Drano: "Oh well. At least we know we kicked their asses!"

Always look at the TOD as a "Team Effort", all the kills you enjoy mean squat if your failed your objective (that being, protecting your CV, where the BIG POINTS lie in wait) or escorting your bombers....it not matters "how many you got" but the quality of those kills in parallel to the mission objective.

For future reference...

If you ever see a blue text message saying disengage, you disengage at the first available chance.  It doesn't mean "finish out this engagement and go home."  It means "disengage ASAP."  It also doesn't mean "I'm almost on this guy's 6, I'll just stay a lil' longer."  It means "I'm almost on this guy's 6, I can bug out safely right now."

Logs were closed on those who stayed too long.  Frodo got his Val down before the 2 hr mark. In retrospect, I should have made them ditch their planes before closing the logs.  They would have possibly made it home in time if they had all disengaged when it was called originally.

We call RTBs and a halt to fighting to get you guys home before time is up.  There isn't another reason to it.

Also, I understand that you might miss the buffer...  so those that do NOT miss the buffer and see the RTB announcement, say so on your squad's VOX and on range VOX if you're near the fight.  We'll repeat the RTB/Halt command several times in hopes of getting everyone's attention.  Usually we don't have to do this because all the fighting is wrapped up in time for the frame to end at in time.

This isn't an isolated incident.  In the Snapshot last Friday, several pilots on both sides went after others who had disengaged after Jordi gave the order.

Maybe we should ask for a CM tool that'll just allow us to turn off guns.  ;)  that'd put an end to the engagements!

Actually that can be done .. plane lethality and gunner lethality can be changed by the CM to something like 0.01. However, this was a unique situation where Nifty wanted to end the frame then since there were only like 5 people up and wanted them to head for home because of the screwed up start that delayed the frame.

In next frame you have from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am to do what you want. If you are not down by 1:00 am they you are considered lost.
