Improving gunnery??
« on: January 29, 2000, 05:21:00 PM »
I seemed to improve my gunnery somewhat with a change in my gunsight.

What i noticed is i get lost with the default green or anything green for that matter. It mixes to  well with the ground.

I then changed it to red (Superfly changed it when I asked online! Thanks!) but noticed that it got too busy while trying to line up with multiple bogies.

White was just too bright on the Bead/target aspect, yellow the same results (straining the eyes too much.

Then I saw a picture online with a orange gunsight, I then changed my sight to orange. (Dotsie changed it for me! S!) I must say the subtle change has made a big difference in my line ups now. Im not straining as much as i used too.

My sight is Dotsie P51historic slightly changed sight (smaller bead in the middle).

Well, was just wondering how other fellow pilots eyes react with different color sights?

I have a custom gunsight too(took it from a link in this BBS), but I've found out there's nothing better way to improve your gunnery than going close, really close.
Then You don't need any gunsight.
My gunnery went from 6 to 10-11 % with this simply method.

cu up there !

Try this one..  +

It's five pixels. Nothing else; no deflection teasers.. nothing to distract your eyes. Mines green.. you can make it any color I suppose.

Works great !

Try this one - . A single black dot works best for me. I place it just underneath were my guns fire so for a dead level shot i have to have the plane above the bead (sitting on it) but it helps for deflection shooting as i only have problems of pulling to little lead (if you pull to much a plane will usually fly through your bullets) This lower dot just fools you in to pulling a bit extra lead which can be deadly for your opponent.

This is what my gunsight looks like... I have achieved 18% hit percentage with it

There is no dot in the middle due to one simple reason, I wan't to have center of gunsight clear, so I can all the time see tracers & target.
Those dots in the corners are just to aid deflection shots slightly.
