$360 a year too high?

Agree with Creamo here........

For 5 Years i paid an average of $325.00 a month for Warbirds and enjoyed every second of it. Thats $3900.00 a year. Some months where more as i had a bit more time over the winter to fly.

$360.00 a year is nothing, as Creamo pointed out i spend more that that in 2 months for good coffee. You will pay for your hobbies no matter what the cost. Doesnt matter if its a car ya put money into R/C models or a kit plane. If its what you want to do, you will pay for it.

Dog out............

hi all:

I am not flying in AH right now do to lack of money and many bills to pay. But I wil be back one day soon I hope. If I go out on a Friday night, I spend up to a $100 bucks, and when I have the money, I will be out every Friday night blowing a $100 bucks, so yeah, I will pay $30 a month to play AH. I just have to get caught up right now, then I will be back.

It is alot of money.
The number of people willing to pay it makes it worth while to HTC to continue at that rate. Many of the people that play do not pay that full rate however. Quite a few are participating in the delivery of the product as trainers and scenario designers and officials. Many were involved in a scheme that was run several months ago to acertain where the most profitible price point of the game is and fly for 10 or 20 per month. Rumours abound of large squads from other games negotiating themselves a better rate to come over.
But give it your 2 week try! Its a great game and if you play as much as some of us do its not really expensive.
At 45 canadian a month it is exensive. Thats 550 or so canadian a year. But its only 50 cents canadian an hour at the rate I play when Im at it. And its almost a guerenteed good time for me. I cant get that anywhere else.
If you think its too high after trying it for 2 weeks. Cancel and let HT know. When you cancel your account it will ask you why.
Tell them.

Remember,

AH is a constantly improving game/sim.  That is what you are paying for.  "Offline" games cost $40 or more.  They get old after a month.  AH never gets old, it keeps getting better. :)

Wow, not to bad of responses so far.  I figured with the Quake and other references, lets just say I was going to suggest a place for good ceramic tiles.

Would I like it to be cheaper, sure, why not?  Do I think it’s worth it?  Well they do have my credit card  ;).

$30 will buy a lot more than you would think.  Part of that provides a very diverse community with subscribers from all over the world.  It also provides a mature and some times eccentric community.  Don’t get me wrong; we all throw a tantrum now and then.  Customer service, well the individuals who created the simulation actually fly in it, follow the BBS, and are quick to clear up account issues.  From personal experience I had lost my credit card and forgot to update my AH account with the new number.  Long story short it was a weekend holiday on a Friday and I was squared away!  Did I also mention that updates to the game are received on a fairly regular basis.

The competition in AH is outstanding.  There are some really good sticks in the main arena and, for myself anyway, it is still very challenging.

There was a joke on channel one (open to friendly and enemy) the other day about the subscriptions.  It was pretty much that they should come with a disclaimer:

** Warning Aces High is more addictive than Cocaine! **

If you can fork it out, it’s worth it.

if you don't want to pay $30 for ah then go to wb iii in sept.

littman told everyone on-line last night that wb iii would cost $9.95 month flat rate for unlimited use after the free august trial.

he said that it wouyld be $24.95 month for wb2, dawn of aces and wb iii if you wanted all of them.

good move and that price will attract a lot of players.

I LIKE the idea of 30.00 amonth. It KEEPS the quake types out for the most part AND it appeals to the hardcore sim type alot more.

Bottom line is... you get what you pay for.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

I haven't flown WBIII yet, but if what you say is true, yee-hah!   I've been feeling the pinch lately and have closed my accounts.
But I could swing 9.95/month!

You're joking of course.  :D

I don't think price makes any difference at all to anyone's behavior.

Just look at the amount of control freaks on this board plus the language filter crowd any night in the fantasy MA(this is hardcore?).  ;)

Personally I think $30 is not that much money for a month of something you like....
However - I have only just started playing it - and am not on it all the time, and therefore not really getting my money's worth. (well, especially if you include the $150 for CH pedals...).

Having options for billing are always nice as you can get the best value for how you play the game.  I'd go hourly until I played it more than 30 hours a month.....  But if the option is not there you jusy decide whether to subscribe or not.  Are HTC okay about you stopping and re-starting if you aren't playing for a month?

What I resent more than the $30/month is how rude people are about one and other on these bulletin boards.  I am trying to learn more by reading here - but some people ("get a better education and earn more money...?") just don't seem to respect other people's opinions or seem to be able to have an adult educated discussion.  This perhaps puts people off playing this game and interacting with the user base?

Perhaps there are people that earn a lot of money and are highly educated, but have a lot of expenses and find $30/month excessive?

Why does a discussion about whether or not the game is good value turn into personal insults?
Why do most of these threads (bar some really good ones) turn into a school playground?

Because there's a handful of people (everyone knows who they are) that love to be message board bullies and post drivel.  Simply watch the responses to this thread (and this post) and you'll see the same ones over and over.  That won't change even if the price of AH was $100 per month.  These same insecure people will still try to control everyone else's ideas and opinions on here.

Gotta agree about the customer service thing. I had to call Pyro at HTC about some Rumble details...

Out of habit I was expecting one of those deals where you press X number to reach X department to get X recorded info blah blah...

Instead it was... "Hello?"

A bit startled, I said "Hello? Hi.. I'm looking for Pyro, is he around?"

"This is Pyro", he said.

It may not seem like much... but when you look at how this company and this sim has evolved over the last couple of years you'll soon realize just how significant it actually is... and how that customer/developer relationship is reflected in the very thing we end up flying night after night. It's practically inherent.

You can't get that anywhere else. But don't take my word for it... call yer local cable company (who's costing you about as much) and complain that there's nothing worth watching.
