AK guys with pink thongs and other undies

Your new desert map has inovations and base set ups that are unigue and new to the game. I like some and I dislike others. What they are does not matter since you are never going to make every one happy all the time. You have created something new and different and I can only imagine the thought and effort that went into it. Many of your new inovations wiil be added into the next new map. I can only hope they are the ones I like, but if they are, some one else will hate them.

Now we are back to a five map rotation. Some I like, some I don't care for. But a map is a map is a map. you learn to deal with it or don't play much if it's up in the rotation.

Now a question.
Would it be possible to create a map of the world as it actually existed in the 1940s with all the continents represented. If this could be done then the map would never have to change, just the different plane sets for the different years after each reset. Or each map could represent certain areas of the map that were actually fought over. Asia, Europe, Africa, the Western front in Russia. Just a thought or a pipedream.

Yep, I'm glad.  The desert map was never intended to be the only map.  We always assumed there would be a rotation.  I don't think it would be possible to make a single map that would satisfy everyone forever.  I think map rotations are vital to the health of this sim.  There are some of the old maps that I like less than others.  I don't throw a fit when they rotate in.  Some people like them better than me.  Everyone takes turns getting the map they like for a time.  Contrary to what a few more vocal members of the community would admit, there are some people who like some elements of the desert map.  Rotation is good.  Variety is good.

It would be difficult.  Current max map size is 512x512 statute miles.  You also only have 5 ground textures to work with.  You should download the editor and play around with it.  You might find a way to work it out that I haven't thought of.

I agree ET.Lots of different things happening in AK Desert map.New gameplay for sure.Glad the rotation is back too.

Even if it doesn't stay in the rotation(I hope a modified version of it does),it will go down as inovative and I bet the experiment will influence HTC maps which will soon follow.(i hope)

Long ago the AKs voted to switch from thongs to fishnet undies.  We were worried that wearing thongs would infer a preference for LW aircraft.

Rumor has it that SWulfe routed through the trash and collected all the thongs after the "switch".  I have no idea what became of them after that.

as far as rotating plane sets go... no way
if there was a pacific theater i wouldnt go near it.
a Luftwaffe squad has no place there.
so because i choose to fly onlw LW planes im not going to be allowed to fly for a tour or even map?!?
that is not the spirit of the game and i sure hope that HTC never goes into that direction with the MA.
i know a whole squad that would rather quit the game than fly non LW planes.

The thongs were snail mailed to Rollo who sent one to me. When I saw what was in the package, I put on rubber gloves and sent it back to AKCurly who I'm sure would have felt naked without it.
AKNimitz never turned his in and is very happy with it as long as no one ever washes it. He will probably grow out of this lawyerly problem as he matures. One can only hope.

Oh I don't doubt it.  You'd prolly have the same problem with a Russian front map.  There'd be some navy types who would throw a fit if they don't have carriers available every map.

AH has become like day care.  There is always some toddler ready to throw a tatrum and threaten to quit no matter what game is played.

you , sir and your squad are truly weird, i fly, drive , sail  everything , buff, fighter , jabo , GV's , ships, it don't matter where it was made. i'm here to have fun not role play a 50 yr old myth of supermen in super weapons.

I'm saving mine for TOD Friday, ET.  Gonna use it as a slingshot - shrug - I figure a slingshot will be better than the guns in the Val I'm going to be flying.
