I wouldn't say "more", but I would say equal,...if you use the wrong product (Polish, Paint cleaner, or polymer/carnauba wax)or use a random orbital polisher incorrectly on a finish that you do not recognize a clear coat on, you can ruin the finish. If you compete in a concours, its critical. Most guys into detailing (Like I've been for 27 years) do their own paint chip repair, in my case, I had an area that was "keyed" stem to stern on my door (I suspect the kids bicycle handle) and the results came out perfect. You can't even see the (to the primer) scratch anymore. If I had take that to a body shop, they most likely would have convinced me to paint the entire door.
