TOD will be a hell of an event when HTC has the infrastructure to support them.  I know times are tight, but it is better if we know ahead of time if the horsepower just isn't there.

I think OVERALL it went smoother than Frame #1 - Not GREAT - No VOX and some major TEXT LAG the first 20 mins.

Best we can do is stress test it till it breaks so they HAVE To put a new one in !
AW - AH Pilot 199? - 200?

Perhaps HTC can give some numbers on what they can support rather than try to run a crippled event.  People put a great deal of planning and work into these things during the week, all based upon one very reasonable assumption - that HTC has made arrangements to handle it.

I thought that Frame two went very well. Although there were some warps and SOME text lag, it did not seem nearly as bad as frame 1, and once my squad moved away from the home fleet, we had NO more problems. This includes when we attacked the IJN fleet. I did not see any warps or text lag after the first 20 minutes of the Frame. Since my squad knew their mission and there were no real variables during the first 1/3 the lag did not effect us very much. I didn't miss the Voice, since last week Voice was mostly used to say "hey, the text is lagging" and thereby adding to the lag problem in general lol.

Got some lag at first, but got better and wasn't a problem.I'm kinda confused though, the main room has over 400 people and no lag, and I thought we had less in TOD, why we get lag? Can they use the main room servers for the events? It would be great to see more people in them. This was my first participation in an event and I thought it was great.I love the way they can manipulate maps to recreate historical events. I saw a group of battleships(3 with escorts) when I first entered the room. One battleship had a tower and a hanger, and the only vehicles available were amphibious. An assault fleet! I didnt realize you could do this(gonna start playin around with the editor again).Looking forward to more events. We only had one sortie, but it was a blast.Gave a whoopin to 53 in D3's and landed back at carrier.Thnx to HTC and the members of AH who put it all together.

Personaly, it sucked but, not to put to fine a point it:) I am not one who generaly gives over to just downright rude coments like that but in this case it paints a picture in collor.

First off a Big to all the hard work that into all aspects of this event I by no mean intend to critise those who set this up.

 My complaints are as follows:

Horbable lag for me, worse than the first frame, squadmats jumping all around the sky. The enemy were imposable for me to lock onto in a meaning full way, end result no kill's, heck first frame I had 4 Kills.

No voice, a cripiling blunder, heck if we knew about it in time we could of used RW.

Com lag real bad, check six calls I got a little two late...

I understand HTC has some Issues, but to try and cram us all in their and half to spend all that time to get screwed because of the lag kinda bumbed me out.

Hopefully somting can be done to fix this.

Glad you enjoyed it sixpence and hope you are able to fly in more.

Brady I hear you. I am not happy about it myself. We work hard to make successful events find ourselves fouled by bandwidth. TOD's have become everything I had hoped for and it could go down the tubes if they don't get things squared away.

...and new software that is very prone to lockups doesn't help matters either. I'm hoping this will be fixed rather soon... I don't mind lag so much compared to "mysteriously disappearing" after a potentially successfull mission. Extremely maddening, not a problem before 1.10.

I have to admit,  I enjoyed the lack of Voice last night.

Voice is a great tool, but its way over used IMHO.   It wouldnt be a problem if people would only use it for top priorty type communictations and then be clear and consise.

Too often, Im trying to get an important message out, only to be forced to try to sqeaze between some complaining about getting shot down and a couple guys on range trying to get in formation or sometime.    It can be very frustrating.

Last week Voice was crazy with questions, problems and complaints,  none that had to be done via voice.

Normaly,  I like to only use Voice if Im the lead and giving orders, questions can be asked via text.

If Vocie returns,  It would probably work better if everyone showed a little better disipline in using it.   keeping its use down to a minimum.

Everyone I flew with yesterday, did an excellent job of Comms without voice,   check six saved my bacon at least once,  I recieved excellent information.   certainly a credit to those pilots.

BTW,  Last night was incredible fun.  The most Iv had since 1.10 and the map from hell.  Salute to enemys and countrymen both!

dd it was so bad for my guys much worse over all then last week.

we didnt suffer the stuff at roll but there was no way to kill a guy d200 because he would warp all over.

We had no idea that vox wasnt available and would have set up rw or bc. Text lag was so bad for some they didnt get the "6 calls" until they we in the twr.

I agree with turbot.

AH is going into its 3rd year with out the very basic infra structure necessary to build an "events community". Stable connections are very important to the "fun".

This is no reflection on the cms or the those that offer up their time to put all this together.

Going into the rumble with no vox for some, new terrain needing downloaded and the history of just plain lag in the SEA may be a bit much.

As some of may well be able to tell from my rampent spelling/typing erors, I do not make a living with my keyboard:)
As such I have come to rely heavely on RW/ AH Voice to help me out in combat, I rember clearly the last fight Wotan and I were in in last weaks tod, a great 2 on 2 dog fight with aganst a couple wildcats, Voice helped so much during that. Hopefully they will be able to fix it.

I realy do enjoy the TOD set up's and after haing taken a Month break from AH I find myself looking forward to more of them.

I didn't see an answer to one of my questions, I was hoping someone could shed some light on this.Would it be hard for them to switch to the main server(s) for events? The main room handles 400 easy right? And switch the main room to the training server(s)? I used to fly another flight sim and their events suffered greatly from lag and left alot of people disappointed.I think these events are good business for HTC.I was wondering about paying 15$ a month for a flight sim(or anygame), but the events did the trick.I hope they realize how much we look forward to these events.(checking email by the minute for BoB reply) ~S~

I think this question has been asked before, and the answer was NO.... it's just not possible to switch arenas when there is an event on.  HTC are, I believe, fully aware of the problems in the SEA though, and I understand they are hoping to make some improvements, including a higher capacity, at some point in the (hopefully not too distant) future.... :)
