My brother has a new toy
« on: July 21, 2002, 04:04:45 PM »
He bought his motorcycle today.  Kawasaki Vulcan Classic.

Since he is my twin brother we are now looking for a bike for me.  I'm looking for a Honda Shadow VLX myself.  Similar bike, but smaller.

Tsk tsk tsk

Where's the fairing guys?

1999 Kawasaki ZX-9R, my lil toy

However...the girlfriend wants us to have cruiser bikes  She likes a 600cc something...don't recall if it was Honda or what it was...she's 100 pounds and 5'5 so needs a low rider.  I sat on a similar model, but a 750 and it felt pretty good.

I dunno, sitting upright on a motorcycle?  Riding for an hour straight without my back aching?  Hmm, dunno if I'm ready  :D

I rode thousands of miles on crotch rockets (we used to call the "cafe racers").  Put in several 1000 mile days in my younger years on a BMW with low bars and a "Rabid Transit" sport faring. I got back in to riding when I was made an offer I couldn't refuse to buy an old Yamaha 750 Special. So here I am with "way backs",  clear windscreen, and a cushy saddle and I love it!!

ahh... kawa davidsons and honda davidsons...   "well, no... it's not really a Harley but it is really better because... where are you going darling... ?"

I recall an add in some cycle magazine back in the late sixties that showed an old panhead motor all covered in oil and a bright shiny 4 cyl honda motor next to it and was touting the honda wave of the future sideways four and scoffing at the silly, wasteful, antique  V twin.

Very cool bikes guys. I've never owned a bullet bike myself, but a few summers ago my older brother made the mistake of leaving his ducati at my house because he didn't feel like riding it back to Tennessee. I almost killed myself on it 3 different times in 4 days. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm too stupid/crazy to actually own a bike like that. It was something like this yellow bike I saw on Ebay, except it had a fairing around the engine.

Ah, Ducati

Sound like a Harley (well almost...that THUMPing sound is amazing)...incredible power...and incredible price to buy, service, etc.

Its amazing you lived to tell about it, those bikes are a LOT of fun

my son had one of them there ducati thingies... rode it around the block.... was ok... not too embarassing.   It didn't look too much like some comic book super heros bike.   Sounded ok too.

he had a buile (or however you spell it)  not bad for a 1200 sportster.
