Was wondering if anyone could give me a basic overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the various 109's and 190's.  Thinkin about using these in the MA, but have next to no knowledge of their flight characteristics.  Thanx.

Urchin had a post on the training forum entitled "A Primer for new Luftwaffe Pilots" I believe.  Let me dig that up real fast.  It answers all of your questions as it did mine :)
D'oh!  It was Urchin and here it is :).  http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43808&highlight=Primer

simple!

Go fast and go straght either horizontal or vertical, just make sure it's straight.

Learn to shoot at 500mph!

Learn deflection shooting at 500mph.

Learn to LOVE the rope-a-dope ;)

Never flat turn, only use the vertical for changing direction.

Learn to shoot at 500 mph

Don't turn...

help? :)

It's a common misconception that a LW flight model is only correct if it's a flying brick ready to fall out of the sky when you touch the elevator.  Check out: http://www.bf109.com, specifically the link called "flying the 109" and read Mark Hanna's account.

sure ... i have chosen the 190-D9 as my only ride:)
(we jabostaffel are am LW only squad)
i currently (this tour) carry 202 kills and 122 deaths in it.
i'd attribute at least 20 of those deaths to being vulched, another 10 to augering or bailing to get to another base quickly to help a squadie, and finally another 5 to the 5 disco's i have in fighters.
that being said, i feel as quite a accomplished dora pilot
my advise on flying it would be to have the best sit. awareness that you possibly can. above 5k you can dive out from anything that tries to b&z you. yes la7 and a few others have a higher OTD speed... but you will be able to out roll and manuever as long as you stay above 400. the E retention is truly the best of all planes i believe. as long as you are patient you should have no problem racking up the kills.
things to remember...
never never never go down into a gaggle of spits and zekes turning on the deck no matter how tempting it looks.
the cannon rounds drop off quite a bit past 600.
if you are co-alt with any other (non dora) high E fighters you are in an advantage as long as you are more paitent than the other pilot.
study the flight charts on help pages and learn the alt/speed differences between you and other planes. see where the speed advantage goes to the others and stay higher than that.
last ... definitely read the other post urchin. he has alot of excellent points.
<> and good luck!

ps. GREAT to have another dedicated LW pilot out there :D
I don't know what to put here yet.

It should be pointed out that the early 109s (E-4, F-4 and G-2) are far different animals than the G-6 and G-10.  The Bf109F-4 in particular is a good angles fighter.

Mind you, I would advise you to use Udie's tactics in whatever fighter you fly.  The Spitfire Mk IX and N1K2 work wonders when flown as E fighters.

E fighters stand a much better chance of survival.

Do not dive-bomb in a 109. It hurts.

109f with bomb and gonds makes easy work out of vh ack and hangar

1 vs 1
109f 50% fuel will out turn 90 to 95% of pilots in MA if flown correctly
80 to 85% with gonds and 50% fuel

notice I said pilots not planes :)

Actually I was in a G-10 and like always I had "enough" speed already in level flight. Then a wing-over, dive and 5 secs later I crashed to the VH.

This was about couple years ago; I'm more carefull with speed now :D

also,

the 190a8 w/ 2x20mm, 2x30mm and a 500kg bomb is one of the, if not THE, very best JABO planes in the game.
