This CTD Problem needs to be addressed ASAP
« on: July 28, 2002, 03:25:40 PM »
Everytime I fly, I feel like quitting.

Firday's TOD: Ends in a CTD (for me)
Snapshot Sunday: Ends in Hard lock up
Out of my 4 262's Deaths: 2 were Hard lock up's

I usually dont whine, but this is unbarable. I can stand the lag in the SEA, but this is really annoying. I get an average of 2-3 CTD/Hard Lock up's a day, when normally, i would get 1 a month.

I am really not enjoying this :(

My computer locked-up when attacking B17's in the snapshot today, so did my wingie klem.:(

This is one of those few instances where it would be nice to hear something official.  Like "yeah, we gots a leetle problemo here" and "were working it top priority"/  I know for a fact this is the case as do most of us probably -but still,  wouldnt hurt for just a little acknowlegement on the subject by HTC.  Especially since its been ongoing for what?  three weeks now.

Oh well...press on

I've been looking for it, trying to recreate it for the past 2 weeks. No luck what so ever yet. Any info on what it is related to is greatly apreciated. Things like were you near a cv, buffs shooting at you anything like that.

HiTech maybe this will help.  Always happened to me after attacking a box of buffs.  I make a pass and knock one down, I change view in cockpit to locate buffs after pass.  Remaining Buffs appear to be going nose down, then they go in reverse back up, go back down and reverse back up.  This all happens very fast while looking at the remaining buffs in the box.  Shortly thereafter ctd for me.  May be just coincidence.

if it happens at the con i'll track you down :)

Not sure if its related Hitech but (as already mentioned in the connectivity forum) I had major probs just getting into the MA yesterday. Big big variance spikes.

tried again this morning and was sweet, nice and smooth.

I have had ctds and locks ups as well over the last week or so but as I am in NZ on a 56k modem I assumed it was my problem.

Seems realted to the UDP/TCP switching and the only moment I can put my finger on is a CTD when I had just landed at a field. As soon as i braked to a halt and stopped everything got real slow. Clicking on Tower nothing happened. 5 - 6 clicks later I finally exited.

i'm not sure it's related to any thing, i've had lockups under all the mentioned conditions, falling bombers, furballs , etc etc, i've also had hard lockups flying all my myself with nobody around, also had lockups sitting in the tower wile afk.
dosen't seem to be hard ware related , fast or slow computers lockup, all the different OS's lockup.
i hope you can find the fix, good luck

I tend to get CTD's when I've been switching views a lot, especially in cluttered airspace.

HT,

Ive been playing the past few days in the CT (because it has an excellent setup going) and I havent had nary a problem.  I also defragged all my drives a few days back.  I will spend some time in the MA shortly and pay special attention, maybe even just let film roll for every sortie and report back if a CTD occurrs again.

P.S.  Thanks fer asking ;)

I have CTD's very often ...and about 25% of them happen in the hangar while clicking on the clipboard to choose runway/spawnpoint(gv), the rest happens randomly.
It got a lot worse after older old maps got back into rotation
