I've CTD'd dropping eggs on HQ from an A20G (so did Cav, we both CTD'd), I've CTD'd shooting at buffs, I've even CTD's while in the tower, all I did was click setup to check netstat and CTD'd.  It's random.

Although......I have noticed you actually have to *do* something in order to CTD.  It doesnt just happen out of the blue, at least for me, it happens just as I click on something or hit a joystick button, etc.  Never just CTD when flying along happily on auto pilot.

no screen freezes for me since ur fix for that. but
CTDs happen anytime anywhere. flying alone over land, over water, in the tower, voice/no voice, typing chat, in fights, no fights, it so random u cant link it together. even in planes of different types, and GVs.

I also heard someone the other night, don't remember who, screamin' that his whole squad had just locked or CTD while they were flying 262's. The whole squad at the same time. I advised him to post it on the bug report forum. I thought that was kinda wierd.

Get a film of yesterdays snapshot Hitech - your answer is somewhere in there.  Try checking when the B-17s were in the a61 area.  This seems to be when at least one mass simultaneous system lockup occured.

Oddly one of the people that got that lockup (Wotan) was in the tower for his freeze.  Pretty bad to get lockup even when on the ground - must be something useful to know in that.  (I wonder if he was in A61 tower - close enough to the action to be affected?)

One person remained of all in our group (Moot).   He says he saw all the people dissappear from the channel list simultaneously.

I another thread I saw a reference to a B17 pilot bailing from his plane and then freezing in the same area.

This is the best lock-up event to investigate.  It happened to alot of people and all in the same general area and, as far as I can tell, at the same time.

I do not have a film - I am sure someone must.

I used to have lockups that occured when B-17's were around... not everythime I saw a group... but every lockup occured when a group was nearby.

Since P2, I've been getting CTDs occasionally.  The one I had yesterday was very peculiar.  I was in a P-40E defending a vehicle base and was beginning a straffing run on a Panzer.  There were a couple of friendly panzers in the area and a couple of enemy fighters.  As I closed to within 700 yards the panzer disappeared.  I flew past where he was and saw him reappear after I passed.  2 seconds later I CTD'd.

HiTech:
I haven't flown much over the past month and a half. I was up for a few hops this past Friday/Saturday early a.m. (EST) and experienced a CTD. Then again on Saturday I had another one. For the rest of my time in the MA on Saturday/Sunday (a.m.) I experienced slight freezes as I would land and go to the tower, my screen froze and it took about 30 seconds or so for me to move to the tower but, I did not have any crashes.

I use cable modem and have my vid settings at 1024x768 16bit. I check my netstatus readings and this past saturday, they seemed steady; prior to new patch my Host Queue readings were consistently erratic; they are much less of an issue now.

Well prior to this version, I don't remember a CTD since i went to win2000 (and then to XP right after it came out). I have had a couple of hard lockups but very few (had a few occurences of the tail slide into to deck caused lockup). Since 1.10 I have had 2 locks both when an enemy bomber crash into the deck in my forward view. On the other hand I have had numerous CTD 2 or more on nearly every session.  Usually happens within the first few minutes of logging in. I have seen no pattern what so every, just flying along, or in a dogfight, or taking off, or landing,or...... whatever then desktop. relog play a little longer this time but after a few minutes band CTD. Then relog and no more problems for the rest of the night or until i log out for awhile and log back in.
This doesn't occur every time but upwards of 70% of the time.  I have removed AH. Defragged and reinstalled AH completely from scratch but that didn't help.  It is a little irretating but I have seen much worse problems in any number of games.  So regardless of the hyperbole, this is not the end of world (or AH for that matter). I am sure you are searching hard for the solution but at this point it does seem a little elusive. BTW - I have not had this happen in the CT or SEA (at least not yet).

I do not use custom sounds.  I know that others that are getting the lockups do.

I also know that the last time it happened to me, it happened to a few others also.  That's not a sound bug.

Yes, then I deleted them and had the same system lockups.
