Lockups are pretty much random and happening frequently. (Not CTD... just a good hard lockup).

One thing I've noticed... it's happened every time I've attacked a formation of Lancasters and at least once against a formation of B17's.

If I had to guess based totally on perception, I'd say sound was somehow part of the culprit... or something to do with sound anyway. I'm ALWAYS either sending or recieving voice, OR taking hits (or a combo) when I lock up. Always happens with some kind of action too... can fly all day without locking up as long as I stay by myself.

Progress on the lockups, It's not fixed yet , but managed to have it happen while in a debug session. Narrowed it down to an out of range Attitude in the drone system. My guess is it happens when a formation first comes into view.

Was here tell 7:30 last night looking at the debug session, was planing on continueing this morning, but the storm/power killed the debug session.

We got that little bugger corrnered, now to get out the 30 foot fly swater.

I hosted a h2h room for 10 hours straight yesterday . I did not experiance any ctd's or lock ups , the game ran smooth .

now some of the players did get the boot now and then . and i was informed by some that they ctd during buff formation attacks .

Eieeeee. Two weeks flying in the Debugger. Finally recreating the lockup in Debugger...Almost found the code to fix...puff...power out. Aeeeeeeeee!

Debugger info...gone!

stock sounds here since 1.09. got Freeze ups in 1.10.0
with buff formation deaths. no freezes in 1.10.2
but tons of CTDs. still using stock sounds.

If you're getting hard freezes, post your system specs there and where you got the freeze.

just from reading other posts on this, at first I thought it was an Nvidia issue, but Makarov says he's getting it with the Radeon 8500, although he says it's just CTDs for him and not hard freezes. The one guy saying he's got no problems has a nforce motherboard. Maybe everyone having hard lockups has Via 4in1 drivers? That's why everyone who's having these lockups needs to post their system specs to see if there is a common theme.

90% of my CTDs are just straight to desktop, no UDP message.

Man you just dont know how good that makes me feel even though you havent found the fix yet, at least we are closer to being back to normal. I have had 40 discoes due to lockup or CTD this month, used to only have a few. Most of mine happen when a three buff formation is somewhere in the area however I have had a few while in a vehicle and there were no planes in the area, but a vehicle was blown up in front of me and I was talking on AHV at the same time.

Oh by the way someone asked about playing off line I have had it happen while killing the drones off line with a A20 and FM2. I had one lock-up while diving on a vehicle base banking to the right, and just in case it helps it always goes to a loop on my machine. If someone is talking the last 10-15 words will keep looping over and over until I shut down the power, if something is blowing up or I am getting hit by the ack it loops.

FWIW, I've found that when I get a screen freeze I can do a ctrl-esc, alt-tab, ctrl-tab several times, no particular combination, I can eventually get the task manager up with ctrl-alt-del and end the aces high task. The mouse won't work until you end the task but once you shut down Aces High everything is normal. This may only work with Windows XP.

Hitech, this doesn't seem to be the case with any of the freezes I have had. This should freeze the game when the bomber formation first comes into view, and so far that has never happend to me.
What HAS happend is that the lead gets shot down and while tumbeling down the drones will warp around until the lead explodes (or gets out of the drone range 1000yards?), then system freezes.

I know, I know, I have been writing this explaination for 10+ days now, but I really think this is where the problem is.

Now the CTD's.......

I've had about 5 total lockups, though can only remember details of 3:-

1) Whilst in Ostwind, killed lead Boston III in formation, at same time it dropped bombs and.... lockup.... presumed lockup on death.

2) In Typhoon, auto-takeoff.... lockup. No other aircraft sighted in area.

3) In P40E, came down vertical on airfield, vulched 109, lockup. 2 or 3 enemy aircraft in area.
