Bombsight Suggestion for Pyro

Pyro,

Would it be possible load in the compass heading when you click the pointer on the map along with the altitude reading we currently get while "head down" in the bombsight ?  Then have the target compass heading shown in the bombsight next to the actual heading of the airplane?

Something like:

Target heading = 235
Actual Heading = 237

Im spending alot of time trying to get lined up and I always seem to be off.

Just a thought

Yeager;

I know that this is not what you are asking for, but have you tried using rudder trim?

While in an autopilot mode the rudder trim is still active and allows you to make very controled course changes.  Works pretty well for those small course corrections after you have calibrated your bombsight.  It also works real good for formation flying also.

i am sure it does work ok Mino, but doesn't help the issue Yeager describes..  and basically ANY course change will affect your drop.  More so over 13k... (wind seems to affect drops just below layer)

I have same problem. with the graphics for bases poping up at the last minute the way they do its almost impossible to line up in their direction accurately.Sure you can guess but thats what makes it frustrating.

typical bad day at the office :you calibrate and finish seting up speed etc only to see your 500 yards too far to the side , you goto pilot move a bit(guess the distance) then back to sight , still a bit off, back to pilot and adjust, target is now too close to recalibrate and you have to fly off, turn and start all over again.

what i find really strange is that all aircraft point slightly to the left and lining up in F3 shows it.Ju88 looks like its flying with a slight yaw to the left.I actually now use a point on the ventral gondola as my pointer for direction

agree with yeager whole heartedly here.we need a bearing for the fields when they are marked or something.

get shot down cuz you've been in the bombsight for 10 minutes and didn't see the 5 cons sneaking up on your six.

Bombing Tip for the Day:

Use rudder trim to correct target misalignment when you are looking through the bombsight. If you are below the wind layer, it won't affect your calibration; if you are above the wind layer, changes up to about 5° won't shift the impact point that far from your calibration point that you'll miss targets.
