geez deja, its getting embarrasing to have you "defend" HT...
I have an idea, next time you feel like jumping in like that, just shut up.

Vapourware?
"Vapourware is software that is not yet written. It is part of modern marketing: you tell people there is a cool product that they need, and you count the number of people that calls you to get more information. If that number is high enough, you might actually go ahead and turn the Vapourware into real software"

Dam gotta delete few files from my hd when I get back to home...

humm what game was that again?

TK is being built by "players". sort of a part time gig. Its a different deal. Also its cross platform.  I always thought the speed that HT got AH up, had a lot to do with not doing the Mac thing.

Pretty much.  With a lot of emphasis on anti hacking, from what I gather.

If ANY Targetware product ever goes live, I predict it probably wont happen in 2002.  Likely in 2004, maybe in 2003, but I suspect it will probably will come with an emphatic and  anticlimatic fizzel once (if) it ever does go live.  Its simply been too long.  Hobbies are like that :(

I would think that committee-ware would lend it self to be more open to 'hacking' oppotunities.

You are so very right

I've been involved in many projects in the BBS world where folks wanted to port of BBS Software from the DOS days into Win32 code.  While there is great interest at first, it usually becomes less a team project and more "what the lead programmer" wants it to be, etc etc

Certainly there are many good examples of people deciding to go about something on their own and succeding.  And I don't know any of the guys at TargetWare...but from my experience with folks that wanted to make newer/better/improved BBS packages, most often it dries up, fizzles or fails due to "too many cooks in the kitchen".

I hope I'm not being charged $2.50 per minute for that prediction, Miss Cleo-Yeager! ;)

Allow me to correct a misconception about what Target Korea and Target Rabaul are.  They are NOT 'committeeware', whatever that is.  Targetware, as a company, has defined roles for everyone in it, and rule by committee is not how it operates.

Target Rabaul, as a community server project, also has defined roles for participants.  I think if you asked any of them (yes, several of them fly AH), they would tell you that there isn't a lot of hemming and hawing about what to do next, what not to do, etc.  THere is a plan, we're following it, and it's coming along nicely.  We continue to add new developers as we go, just added another AH flyer this morning, as a matter of fact.

A little picture I snapped during a test yesterday.

Too bad you're not signed up for the TR beta test Yeager, you could have finally shot me down... I'm all rusty from all my ACM-by-committee.

Oh well, a flyable sim would be better of a lot of bla-bla. So lets stop this cross-posting and lets play the flyable one, AcesHigh that is :)

Jokes apart, I'm sure TR will get a lot of players *when* it will be available and maybe as good as beta-testers say. I'll be one of them. I became old waiting new TK releases .... sadly I finally gave up. Sorry, but online sims needs a fast develpment, without time holes. This is what I liked about AH beta and like *very much* about the actual development.

LOL, good one, Gatt

When they have a flyable sim up, I'll give them some more leeway on what they say.  It'll lend some vredibility, in my opinion.

I signed up early on for the closed beta, never heard a thing.  Nay-Sayer mode is still on  :P

When will Targetware be giving the great unwashed a look at their product?  Talk, talk, talk just doesn't produce any good feeling towards their effort.  I used to watch the BBS there,
but didn't see anything but a few screenshots.  Have given up watching their BBS.

Surely it should be ready for primetime by now.  Good luck with it.  I hope it will be everything you want it to be.  I hope I will be alive to see your product!
