looks different from any pics I have seen,so i might venture it's a smaller, lesser know carrier...maybe Zuikaku??? It's just a wild guess.

Equally wild would be a British CVE (HMS Activity), or maybe a IJN Taiyo class Escort carrier.

the real question is what plane is on the flight deck. Not many twin props I'm aware of that are CV capable by design. Especially if the picture is a WW2 vintage shot.

how many multi engine planes flew off a CV in WWII? - i can only think of 2 - & that plane (if that is a plane) is certainly not a B-25, possibly it is a F7F...

The Japanese Navy and Japanese Army hated each other.  That was one of the biggest disadvatages the Japanese had.

They worked against each other and had many, many duplicate units.  That's why the IJN has aircraft like the N1K2-J, J2M, J1N1 and G4M as well as land based soldiers.  The Army had naval assets.  Its completely whacked and almost as bad as what happened in France where the airforce was stripped of its independence when the socialists got to power in the 1930s, the army backed the socialists you see...

IJA had some Aircraft Carriers & Amphibious Landing assault/command ships.

"Akitsu-maru"can bring....
13 "Ki-27" Fiters or light bombers(Ki-30).
27 "Dai-hatu"(landing craft) with Type97"chi-ha" midium tanks.
2000 Infantrys.
