Even the AK's seem very lifelike in person[/B]

Now what the hell does that mean? :D

Concerning Lazs, the BBS conversation conceals his lazy grin and general good humored approach to conversation.

BTW, I understand everyone at the West end of the room suffered eye damage.  That damn Rip wouldn't keep his hat on and the glare was just awful.

Ammo was a helluva guy except for his lamentable ignorance of javelinas.  Both Ammo and Rip look like they don't need guns to go hunting. :)

Drex is a fair shot ... seems to rarely miss the one that counts.  Heck, he even shot himself once - heh, heh, good call Nimitz. :)

Ghosth makes great cranberry brandy and he shares! :)

Urchin learned he needs to fly spits, or at least so Shaw opined.

Hooligan reminds me of me 20 years ago - genuine, in the flesh, progammer geek. :)

Heck, I enjoyed everyone ... I can't say I met anyone who wouldn't be fun to visit with for a while.

Poopster,
the Austin Healy 100/4 is a early four (4) cylinder version, not the six (6) cylinder version found in the 3000. Personaly I would love to have the original, but the 327 would sure add some liveliness to the old girl :)

That was a tactical decision, it distracted anyone from looking over my shoulder to see where my missions were going :D

GREAT meeting you and your shifty-eyed Lawyer son (Nimitz :D) Thank you once again for the rudder pedals!

Amazing how cons can draw so many together and gives the satifaction of many more friendships cast for a lifetime!

MY GOD MAN..

Wait a minute, Didn't the 100/4 have a four cylinder engine? I think you have confused it with the 3000. As it is the 100/4 sounds like a lawn tractor.

If engine changes to classics were a crime, Carrol Shelby and Ken Miles would be in jail. After all, they created the Cobra and Tiger by wedging a 260 ci Ford V8 into an AC Ace and Sunbeam Alpine, respectively. While it may irritate the purest, it's an American tradition to do what Laz did, and takes no small amount of mechanical skill either.

Back in the 1970s, my brother and I installed a Rover V8 in a '67 Sprite. It took us nearly two years to get it sorted, but man, it was a hoot! Likewise, author Warren Bodie was well known in southern California in the 1960s for his bright red AC Ace, re-engined with a 327 Chevy. He too did the conversion himself.

My hat's off to Laz.

Lazs is a great guy live and in person. Yep, never thought I'd hear myself saying that. But he's a popsiclecat in real life, nothing like the mean old cranky, toothless, bald reactionary that he portrays himself to be on this BBS.

After talking to him for about 10 minutes, he said to me "banana, you're not nearly as uptight in person as you are on the boards!"

"I was just thinking the same thing about you, Lazs" I replied.

So we got along famously at the con, as did most everyone else with him.

So, I can't see myself ever taking Lazs too seriously when he posts here ever again. For however misguided he appears on the boards, he truly is a good guy up close and personal. :)

Oh yeah and it simply wouldn't be a convention without someone going sleeveless to show off their big muscles!

I have heard from a inside source that wasnt really Laz. It was an impersonator he hired to throw all you off.

xBAT

P.S. Isnt RL cool... and arent these boards so damn misleading... food for thought eh?

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

first off.... I am not that insipid laz guy.

poopie.... abarth exhaust on little motors sounds like.. like.. prolonged flatulance.  Is that how you got ur handle?

No way could I dislike ammo, rude or ripsnore.    I couldn't have gotten em angry if I tried.

Ak's curly and nimitz were a blast to be around although I had to warn nimitz about inappropriate touching several times.

watching a ripsnore missun in person was everything I thought it would be.   All it lacked was a lumpy couch and some 3 year old "people" magazines to make the experiance complete.

To top the whole thing off... some freinds from the Dallas chapter of the modified healey club set up a meet for me and I got to drive several 12 second healeys... Dallas cops are eitgher very tolerant or just plain lazy.
