Author Topic: Unable to play (not just CTD's) with patch 3 (Read 318 times)

After many CTD's in patch 2, I downloaded the full install and started over. No more CTD's, AT ALL! BUT.......... after installing patch 3, I crash EVERY time from the login screen. No matter whether I click on ONLINE or OFFLINE, as soon as it tries to start the game itself, CTD occurs. Oh, and this even happens when viewing film. As soon as it tries to enter the "game" to replay the actual film, CTD. I tried reinstall of 1.10 2 and re-do of patch 3, but still same prob. I can't even play in any form at this point... still investigating possible causes.

Athlon 750, not oc'd
GeForce 3 Ti200, with fan
512 M RAM
DX 8.1 (gonna d/l 8.1b just in case)

Check for any software running in the back ground and also try to reinstall direct x.

I installed DX 8.1b.. still same problem. Reinstalled the full install of 1.10.2, then let autoupdater redownload patch 3. This worked, as game runs fine now. Possibly corrupt file in patch 3 from my first download, ... dunno, but it works now.

I,ve been getting hard lockups too, not last night though. It is starting to look as if a fresh install will fix it. HTC doesn't seem to have much to say about that though. Their auto updater should work OK.

Have you guys thought to blame this on the voice comms...even if you are not using it ?

Myself and several friends are unable to play at all when someone is using voice comms, which freeze frames the game at our end.

If someone speaks at the same time we are entering the game
say from the hanger or the tower, the "game will lock up" requiring a complete reboot of the system.

This is narrowed down to exactly "VOICE COMMS"

Good for some but destroying the game for those it has effect on.
Other than this voice comms issue this is an excellent game with great potential.

Voice comms are good so dont misunderstand..
but at the risk of loss of players / customers its not good at all for anything. For the dozen or so I have joined games with recently
the voice comms have in fact rendered Aces High as being useless. Thats not good considering that otherwise all is near perfect.

besides, its allways just the same 3 or 4 people using it.... too good to type like the rest of us I suppose ???

Rather than shouting (yes, typing in capitals is regarded as shouting) "Down with voice coms", may I suggest you look a bit closer to home first? If voice coms are causing you so many problems it sounds you may need to consider upgrading your system? I personally think the voice coms are one of the best features introduced to this game so far, and go a long way to bringing the community closer together. Being able to talk to each other, either on a tuned vox channel or on the Room/Range channel, adds an extra dimension to the game experience...

If you think its only 3 or 4 people who use voice coms, then I think you are sadly mistaken - besides, if it was only 3 or 4, do you think it would make a lot of difference if only those 3 or 4 stopped using them? And no.... I don't consider myself "too good to type" - I probably type a lot more than I use vox, but the two communication systems complement each other perfectly, each having their own main uses....

I guess I must be one of those 3 or 4 people who use voice comms and so are the 45 folks in our squad. I totally agree with Flossy and voice comm is great, especially for the typing impaired like myself. It would be nice though if HT had an option to turn it off for those that do have problems with it. I am sure that it probably is related to your low end pc or at least to the sound card. Have you got all the latest greatest drivers? Have you turned off all unecessary programs running in the background? Have you tried checking or unchecking WAVE IN in voice setup? Do you have Zone Alarm running?

I cant play the game at all. I have only been around for less than a year but can never remember this many problems with ths game. I dont think its our puters, its 1.10. My question is WHY, why should we have to do anything to our computers? I never did before. If the your phone or cable tv just froze on hung up on you would they make you work on your phone or tv,,,,no!! I really think we should dump 1.10 and see what happens.
