A big <S> to the Army of Afghanistan.
« on: August 07, 2002, 02:26:10 PM »
They just suffered a surprise attack at one of their outposts.

They lost 3 men, counterattacked, pursued the enemy as the enemy fled towards nearby hills, surrounded the enemy and killed at least 11 enemy.

These guys are some of the only guys in a long time to not take the 'easy' (much better pay, fairly safer) road by not opting to work for a local warlord. They are the guys who are 'buying in' to the idea that Afghanistan can be a stable and self governed member of the world community, and they are buying in with their own lives.

So drink a beer for these guys at dinner tonight. Not a bad job considering they were surprise attacked by an enemy who has combat experience.

Nice sentiment. But they're just a bunch of dirty ragheads, right, so who cares?

Where is Afghanistan, BTW?

Poorly chosen words. Some of the guys you dismiss as 'dirty ragheads' chose death by torture rather than giving up the location of where they hid the GPS unit and satellite phone that Western intelligence agencies gave them to aid in the overthrow of the Taliban.

Not sure how this ties into the thread, but we're talking military action so I figured this might be appropriate. Somehow.  Maybe.

Sorry Wulfie, I should come clean. My comments were sarcastic and aimed at certain frequenters of the O-club who use the term 'raghead' with alarming regularity.

And fatty - I do know where Afghanistan is.

It's a small village about 75 miles North-West of London.
