mission threater not a wise idea
« on: August 08, 2002, 12:09:11 AM »
I was hoping that the new pipeline would be here soon but the service had to go outta business.

The Arenas are already choked of bandwidth enough, adding another arena the "mission threater" would be a bad idea.

I mean i'd love it as much as the next guy but come on in the current state right now we NEED better service,  the MA is great but if it wasn't for my squad i would have quit AH a while ago due to this lag.

Please try to get a new server THEN try stuff like the mission threater.

now there is some sound business advice, I'm sure once HTC gets off their collective lazy arses and stumble across this gem of an idea all will be right with the world once again

the community as a whole will no doubt look upon you with a new found respect now that you've shown Hitech the obvious mistake he was about to make

I for one salute you ....

A new arena would use less bandwidth if anything.  Splitting people up into two arenas simply means that two arenas each use half as much bandwidth.  It also means that global messages such as chat, only go to half as many people.

Oddly enough, the only lag I've noticed that was the fault of HTC's connection was during the last TOD in the events arena.

Keep this FANTASTIC server too, it's WELL worth my $15 a month!!!! I only have to deal with major text lag and warpage but hey! it's a great deal in the long run it's only $180 a year to play in these GREAT net conditions!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Soviet, come to Yurop, I never saw any differences in warps over the last 2 years. (apart from when a new version is out or when some router is acting up, but it seldom happens.)

'course.... I'm not sure we want you here :D

Maybe before giving HTC advice on what to do next.. you should actually find out what they plan to do next.

Give them a call... they'll tell you.

I am sure they would never dream of launching Mission Arena until they haved cleaned up things on the server side.  I am more concerned with their capabilities to run Battle of Britain and other events in the mean time.  Some recent frames of TOD have been brutal.

I am wondering, could Soviet actually be an IEN spy, now trying to delay another AH feature that draws players from "brand w" to AH?

Anyone reading AGW knows that alot of WB players read about the mission arena with great interest, and plenty suggested that this new feature might be the one that brings them over to the bright side.

So yes HTC, dont implement a great idea, let the competition catch up.  ;)

The server is fine.

The bandwidth is overloaded.

The load would be decreased by dividing up the players between 2 arenas.
