Hi Mates

Now that you have given us fighter bombers and medium bombers, how about some delay action fuses for the bombs.

This is so we can drop low and get out before explosions. Also, some skip bombs for killing ships and parafrags for airfields.

Really like the A20, but need some delay fuses for very low level bombing.

Thanks for the response.

You may recall that back in Warbirds 2.77 we had this feature and used it with the B25H quite a lot.

I would hope that we get this in AH soon. Adds another very good dimension to the low level bombing.

an absolute must addition which hasnt materialised.

cant think why HTC hasnt done it especially after so many asked for it (see thread link above).

The LW used delayed action fuses in the eastern front to knock out tanks.
The pilots would fly at zero feet and drop their bombs into the sides/tracks of the tanks before climbing out.They apparently got so good at it that they could actually skip the bombs along the floor before they smashed into the weaker armoured sides of the tanks hull.They used delays of a second or so in order not to blow their tails off.

I agree that this should be added soon

as to modelling the bomb after impact and all the probelms accociated with it + carbombing returning because of it, that is nonsense.

we have a 1000ft arming which stops dropping of bombs too low.adding a delay fuse would not help if the bomb is never armed.But it would solve what is for me a fairly major problem when attacking GV's and that is having to get too close sometimes to get the aim right and dieing in your own explosion.
This was the reason for delayed action and also to disrupt the clean up teams by having some explode whilst they cleared the damage.
AH needs them for a practical reason no matter what AKDeja believes

we dont need a 'skipping' affect necessarily. just have the crater appear a second later exactly where the bomb meets the ground.

The major problem here is in order to hit Flaks etc with present blast radius you have to be spot on almost, which means a very accurate drop which means you need to get in close.I personally think its easy to kill jabo planes from a GV and those planes that do kill you with a jabo bomb drop often get killed by its blast.
with a .5 sec delay or so you can drop a touch ahead of the GV and pull out well far enough not to be killed trying it.
AKDeja says in the thread link you should be able to break off or pull out etc and this negates its usefulness? well I dont agree because ive often attacked huge numbers and in the mad flight for a strike ive often had to drop very low and fly right over the target to get away.I would like to have fuse delay and i would use it.If its of no use to you (meaning those that dont want it) well simply dont USE it.keep your delay as 'impact' and forget about it.stop argueing that others shouldnt have it.

Thanks for that nice response.

If anyone has questions as to application of "skip" bombing, should read up on US medium bomber operations in the Pacific in WWII. B25H was designed as a ship killer. A20's dropped at masthead height too. Parafrags were invented by those units operating out there.

Consider another option also. How about fuse delays up to, say 10 minutes? How long does it take a field to rebuild?? Could render airfields usless for quite a time. I expect I will get fragged myself for making the suggestion.

You do need delay fuses for low level hard targets and especially in AH.

For that reason then we would have to limit the time of the fuse as a concession to gameplay. What about a maximum time of 60 secs?

Delayed action fuses would be great. I miss NOE B26 raids popping up at the last possible moment to kill stuff.

To stop carbombing why not disable dropping of ord completely while landing gear is down... I know this would be a problem for the Val/JU87 (if we ever get one) but I'm sure there must be a way round it.

a few years ago there was a TV series ( drama not doc. )about the British bomb squads who disarmed german bombs that had time delay fuses, Germans kept changing the type of fuse so it was challange for the brits to figure out the new designs, the show went into detail about each type of fuse and how it was disarmed.
