Furball Story on AH and WW2OL
« on: June 04, 2000, 08:58:00 AM »
Hi folks...

I put off announcing this story as long as I could in the hopes of getting the screenshots I was promised from Pyro. To no avail (ppppppttt! to you pyro, hehe   ). Anyway I've given up on that happening so here is the link that some of you have obviously already found.

That was a good read target, thanks. I wish I could have sickdays like that. :0)

I must be missing something though. Where was the first hand look at WWIIOL? What's it play like, did you fight someone? Who won? It must be cool, were you connected via LAN?

The only thing I saw that was suspicious, was the quote "Wow, a man with a plan. Night and day compared to Aces High.

The night and day I see is WWIIOL is still a idea, and AH is the real deal online and running pretty smooth. I havent seen real footage of WWIIOL, but there has been a WHOLE lota, "We intend to" stuff.

I guess my question is, how did it play?
Just briefly describe what plane you were in,and what the FM felt like.

(Or is positive gameplay feedback a NDA no-no?)

By night and day I mean that the higher ups at WW2OL seem to have more of a vision of where they as a company and WW2OL as a game are headed. HTC seems to be making it up as they go. I'm not sure that either is a better way, but I'm always more comfortable with a company that actually plans things a few years in advance.

On the other hand, I AM the webmaster of a fan site for another flight sim. Why would Dale tell me didley about his ideas for the future? Might just be holding his cards close to his chest. Something to consider anyway.

As far as WW2OL FM's go, I didn't mess around with the alpha while I was there this time, but I did get a dog and pony last time and saw the spit do a few rolls and loops etc. It looked fine I suppose. However, without flying it for real with my own controls against non ai apponents I don't know that anyone can give you a very accurate assessment.

The wierdest thing about my visit was at HTC, and I didn't mention this in my article. While Dale was showing me around the new landscape with the sun setting and the clouds moving about, he picked a tank to go around in 'God' mode. Was the oddest thing to see a few thousand pounds of metal hovering at 5k. LOL

Falcon 4 had a plan too

It also had higher ups that were higher up than the Higher ups within falcon 4.

The higher higher ups had other projects and
objectives than the higher ups within f4 and
the f4 highups had difficulty passing
their plan into the state of a plausible
product. Grand was the plan and large was
the can which held the bankroll of money.
But the higher ups knew as the f4 highups did
too that the ground that they trod would be tricky.

Many years did the f4 highups toil and to
the plan they were loyal. But The higher
highups did stew of the timeline askew and
demanded a refund or product. Out the door
was f4 kicked and infested with ticks, a
timebomb waiting to be fizzled.

Yet great was the acclaim of the vaunted f4
name as the product rolled into market.
reviewers did marvel and f4highups did smile
as falcon 4was crowned with laurels.
but the higher high ups did not applaud the
f4highups job for their eyes were on the almighty dollar.

The patches that came improved the game that
carried the falcon 4 title. But picky were
the simmers who demanded more rivers of
updates to make the bugs few. And all the
while the higher high ups did not smile for
they now knew as the f4highups did too that
f4 would not refill the large can of dollars.
