Come Nate, Super, be rebellious, model one without the boss knowing ;)

Pyro mentioned "Sea plane tenders" in regards to the Navy when it first came out, but the idea was temporarily shelved...anymore thought on this lately Pyro? (Not that he'd respond to me, but he might be reading...)

Seriously though, how good a dogfighter would this thing be and what else would we use it for in AH as it exists today?

Has any sim effectively modeled seaplanes yet?

Actually all planes in ah are seaplanes at the moment. you CAN land them on the ocean with gears down. It rolls (last time I checked).

lol, don't know whether it counts but the best thing about FS2002 is watching the airplane you've just landed in the drink slowly sink into oblivion if it has no floats :D...  Actually it's the only good thing...  Although the particle spay effects in the water are nice too.

Well, Seaplanes in AH would provide more a planeset/historical role and a "Wow" factor, than a true MA competitive aircraft...it could be useful in the upcoming "Mission Arena" as several roles, Search and rescue, Recon, Port resupply.  Imagine your down to your Escort ships and Seaplane tender after you CV has sunk...you could still launch aircraft! :)

Dunno, just thought I would punt the topic since Pyro mentioned seaplane tenders back in the Navy version of AH.

We have a surface search radar dish on the PT boats that don't seem to do anything, either.

Ripsnort has a good idea.  I also would like to see the PBY modeled also.  It performed many duties.  One Squadron known as the Black Cats hit Ports , and enemy shipping at night.

we have asked for seaplanes before and ill certainly add to rips request by shouting Heinkel He.115 or arado seaplanes! :)

i was thinking introduce them and give them a role to play. would it be possible for the present game engine to show on the map any fleet that has a recon aircraft nearby?
or perhaps there is some way we can look at a target and mark the coordinates which can then be seen and used by gunners in ships for targeting?

think how cool it would be to spot a fleet and turn to look over your wing then using the mouse or similar you 'mark' the target. and if you keep then within a certain distance a ships gunner miles away can start shelling accurately.

or how about a simple join command so a gunner and a scout link up and for the duration of the link the gunners shells change colour so that the aircraft/scout can then spot for that gunner?

admitedly not a great role but at least a usefull one at times.

also we cant dicount aircraft because they wont do much in the MA.we would miss out on most of the classic aurcraft we all know and want to fly here.109e,spit I, Hurri I,ju88 , he111, p40b ,202 etc are or would be useless as a fighter for MA but dont you want to have them? I would
