The Wildcat was tough, but what I think you are being frustrated by is the A6m2s fire power.
The 20mm cannons seem to have a very slow muzzle velocity, a very short ammo clip, and the MG's are rifle caliber, so almost worthless against aircraft. The frustration for the 303's the Allied pilots have in the BOB is what your going through this week. Only we don't have 8 Popguns we 2.
I have found the P-40 is just as hard to shoot down as the F4F, remember, this is really the first early war Japanese gun models we've seen. Your used to the A6m5, and KI-61 Cannons and MG's which were improved over the A6m2. Plus add to the fact the F4F is sporting 50 cals, and just a couple of those rounds will turn your Zeke into a roman candle, makes this a very interesting matchup. Both sides have to use their aircrafts strentgh's to take advantage of the other planes weak points.
Basically it's a mirror image of last week. Only now the Allies planes are best used to B&Z, and the Axis pilots are wanting to slow the fight down to a turn contest which favors their planes.
Plus add to that the bombers are still out running the fighters, it is just like BOB.
