Well, I took all the advice, and yeah... I've been studying ballistics for a little over 18 years now so I do realize it's the weak guns that are giving me fits. I have no problem getting on the F4f's 6, it's just that staying there long enough to accomplish anything with those guns takes too long. By the time I get in close enough and lined up, someone (or 3) is on MY 6 and I either get the shot and die for it, or never get a shot at all. This was a great setup, and would have been very enjoyable for me if I had found some one-on-one fights, but that just wasn't in the cards I guess. Oh well, maybe I'll do better in the next one :). all, you allies had me feeling like the guy on the ladder in this pic...

Yeah, fake pic, but the comparison is valid :D

I love the Zero, what I do is get real close like 200, and use just the cannons, that way you tell whear their going, it only takes a few hits to kill them, one nice thing is that at that range you can "place" your shots, Cockpit, tail good places to hit.

200?   Brady, I found that 200 was even to far for me.  150 or 100 was hitable but any thing over that was "ping them silly with mg range."  Deflection shots are all but impossible.

I'm also shocked by the low hitting power of the Type 99-1, more than once I would see 3 or 4 hit sprites and the F4F would seemingly shrug it off.  Questions for the weapons experts out there: Was the 20mm Type 1 HEI round really that impodent or is AH damage model simply failing for low velocity rounds?
