Excellent advice.. from all of these gents. Even my good buddy Grun, who's bucket of karma is always in need of adjustment nailed it squarely..
As for your comments about flying in circles, well buddy thats pretty much all your warbird type plane will do anyway so better get used to it
..and short of actually flying a real warbird, there's no thrill quite like piloting a 40 pound warbird model in a fast 150mph pass down thru show center, with a gentle pull up four point climbing roll into pure verticle with the sun glinting off the canopy and wingtips... the powers pulled off, you boot her into a smooth perfectly timed wingover as the 'e' bleeds away.. the time lag delay of the engine rumbling back to full power as you roar back down to show center, kicking her into knife edge as you flash by the crowd... roll inverted and yer brain farts.. yah pull instead push and you slap yer prized pride and joy into the asphalt, creating a thousand lil bits of treasured glass, lumber and aluminum cartwheeling into a spectacular awww-SHIT! (hey; it happens!)
How deep is your desire?? and.. how deep is your wallet?
It's significantly more exciting and boring than a video game, all at the same time. It, like anything else worth doing; defies accurate description.. because it's diffrent for just about everybody that tries it. Suffice to say, you'll feel pretty good the first time you complete a flight.. and mighty awful the first time you auger.
If you seriously try the hobby, I assure you, you will do both.
Every step is accompinied by more difficult challenges, and ever more enjoyable success.. and ever more devastating setbacks. If you don't enjoy risk and challenge, stay away. Take up stamp collecting, 1/72 plastic modeling or HO railroading.
