howdy i have a saitek x36 usb (99bucks at best buy) that i just really got up and running right 1.3 drivers are a must .

am now lookin for a good file to set it up in a advanced mode ( i.e. use the rotary trim knobs and plethora of other controls)  i know that they can me set up but am really cluless as to how . i had a conversation with somone who had it worked out and offered me their setup to use ( reverse enginering rules for this kind of stuff) and yes i did read the previous posts and the saitek primer on another web sight but it frankly was a little hard to grasp

so assuming you have one and want to disseminate your hard work please email it to me at s.d.brookins@worldnet.att.net  i will try them and make shure one gets submitted ( under you name for the credit ) to htc and saitek so that hopefully in future it can be on these websites for easy setup for nubys ( easy setup = nubys with a chance =better flyin environment ( ie targets hehe)

thanks in advance

I posted this over in Hardware & Software in response to another thread.  I thought I'd try it here as well.

I'm curious.....

Is anyone actually using the built-in RUDDER of the Saitek X35T in AH?

I've been eyeing this combo, but have always used a joystick with a built-in "twisty" kind of movement for rudder use. I've got quite adept with it, so I'm a little worried about changing to this Saitek X36 / X35T combo and having to re-learn the coordination all over again. By the way, I have a very old set of Thrustmaster pedal rudders (the analog ones). I wonder if they'd work with this setup?

Regards,
Badger

Yes, with Aces High you can use analog rudders and a usb joystick.  I'm using a Saitek usb stick with ch propedals and a prothrottle.  I had to attach my old analog joysitck to the rudders/ throttle setup to get win98 to recognise the rudders.  Then I assigned the rudder and throttle functions to joystick #2 in the aces high control panel.

Works great!  Nice to have a usb stick- no spiking, unlike my old ch combat stick  .  It's also nice to be able to use my rudder pedals and all the programmable buttons on my prothrottle too!

Badger,

I used the "toggle" on the throttle for the 1st 2+ months after buying the X36. I found it to be marginal at best...however others have said they adapted to it just fine.

Two things may be at issue with me, first I'm a lefty who switched to flying righty to use a HOTAS setup. Obviously I was relearning everything so to a degree that was an issue. I'm also very much a T&B flier here and slight variations of rudder input are essential. I never did adjust to anything but all or nothing despite my best efforts.

I bought a set of USB propedals a couple weeks ago and they're really starting to payoff. The X36 combo(USB) is a great stick/throttle combo but I feel a set of usb pedals are a must in the long run...my ch pedals wouldnt work..so i don'tthink any non USB pedals will.
