R4M,

<<<Look, one doesnt start to build buildings from the roof, but from the ground.>>>

Wish I'd said that.  It's exactly right on the money.  I'm excited about the future of the CT more so than the MA.

I do feel the ME262 will make for some really fun SEA missions.  B17s, 51Ds and ME262s.  I can see it now.

SOB,

I didn't say that there couldn't be any other British plane that was competitive without being a perk, I said that there probably isn't a better British fighter that could be added without being perked.

A Spitfire VIII, LF.IX or LF.XVI might not be perked, but it very well might be too.

I'm disappointed because I like neither 1945 or 1941 for an MA type of game.  I strongly think that 1943 offers the most interesting, diverse set of units of any time period in WWII.

I'll still be here, I'm just not thrilled with the dirction AH has taken since the release of 1.06.

There were 120 me-262s available in late 1943...  Maybe you are after a certain "type" of match-up Karnak, not necessarily year?

Way to go HTC, looking forward to these planes!

Elysian,

Um, no.  The Me262 enter sevice in mid-1944.  There were no Me262s available in 1943.

According to a reliable history book I have (centered on the D-day invasion), 120 me-262s were indeed produced by late 1943.  I'm sure you know the whole "Hitler likes offensive weapons" thing, and why me-262s were not really employed until fall of 1944.

Point I was trying to make is that maybe you would like certain types of match-ups in AH, the "specific year" thing is kinda screwy.

The first experimental fighter unit to use the Me 262 was Erprobungskommando 262 (EKdo262), III./ZG 26. The unit formed at Lechfeld on December 19, 1943. EKdo 262 was composed of two Staffeln and one Stab unit. The unit received their first Me 262 in April of '44 and scored their first victory of a Mosquito on July 26, 1944. By September, elements of EKdo 262 went on to join Kommando Nowotny and III./EJG2 at Lechfeld.

The first active unit to use the Me 262 was Kommando Nowotny which was formed at Achmer in September of 1944 and headed by Major Walter Nowotny. The unit became operational on the 3rd of October and claimed their first kill, a B-24, on October 7th.

Elysian,

Actually I like diversity and strange aircraft.  By 1944/45 many of the intersting aircraft of WWII were no longer viable.

You read about how fast the Mosquito was, how it could pace, or even outrun its enemies.

The Mosquito can do a whopping 380mph, 345mph on the deck.  It'll get eaten for lunch in AH.  Something like 75% of the fighters in AH easily out do that.

The Me410 is in the same boat.

The A6M5, Il-2, TBM-3, F6F-3, Hurricane IIc and C.205 would all be much more usable in a 1943 arena, but in the 44/45 arena they are toast.

1944/45 is concentrated on fast fighters and big bombers.  All the other types of aircraft have fallen by the wayside.

So you can have your P-47M, Spitfire MkXIV, Ki-84 and Me262 (fast fighters) to attack your He177, Halifax, B-24 and B-29 (big bombers).  Every thing else is at a huge disadvantage.

We have a 1944/45 game, and I will try to use 1942/43 units in that game, but it is frusterating.

Well, well, more planes are good. Eventually, we will have almost all, and eventually, hopefully, there will be so many people playng AH, that there will be many arenas, including one with a rolling year-by-year planeset.
Since 262 will be expensive, it should not upset the game balance, and same to the p51H.
Hurricane finally arriving, yum yum.
Hurricane was a good turner, good gun platform, durable, and rolled nicely. It should do fine as a tankbuster, give spits and nikis a headache in stallfights, and you don't wanna HO with the 2c. So what's the problem....
Regarding the Mosquito, it would be the second fastest thing with a bombsight (only the ar234 faster), Heavily armed for field capping, and still being able to outrun many of the planes, especially in a shallow dive. Can't wait for it   :D
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

 I was flying a 1944 Yak-9U against a 1944 A6M5-52 and not doing too bad tonight  ;)

Westy,

True.  <S>

The Zero is fun to dive into furballs with and just frusterate your enemies.  Ya got me twice though.  Well done and good kills.

Nice to see how your mad a Pyro but you insult the german fans.
Not content with the Tempest I guess. Or the Lanc. Poor hard done by karnak. 3 spits isnt enough I guess. The last production Hurricane is a waste of your time I guess. Its a contemporary of the Spit Vb and the Early 109 and a great addition to the game, moving the plane set earlier which is what many want.
Putting in the 51H and the 262 at the same time is not an accident. The 51H is a great counter to the 262. If the 262 pilot makes a single error the 51H will have him. And vis versa the 51H cant lurk too long in the dweebusphere without worrying about the 262s.
I think the hurricane is a great addition. Goes well with the 202, 109F4, ju88 and Spit Vb. The game is growing in both directions at once...Keep em coming guys!

Pongo,

I don't think the P-51H is coming.  I think the FDB were having one on us.
