Modesty is a sign of true master, Toad. You have any 262 pics, btw ? Wanna back me up on this ?

Westy, of all the pics of 262 I have, none of them has the armor plate. However, it exists on most of 262 drawings. So I conclude it was removed in the field.

Got me on it. It is the ultimate fun to fight a P51 the way he fights you  ;).

Oh boy, how easy it will be. BnZ while eating a sandwich and talking to your wife. As you see an Allied opportunist dive on you, point nose down and smile  ;).

...And the thing that makes this so called "luftwhining" real art is that the people flying allied planes NEVER EVER whine. In the history of this BBS there isn't a single whine posted which includes allied planes...

Hristo,

No, I don't have any pictures of the -262, unless you count the one in the NASA museum in DC. Those are in an album around here somewhere.

I take a few pictures of Warbirds as I meet them "in person".

I don't have a single "coffee table" book of pictures by someone else. (I do get the "Ghosts" picture calendar every year... does that count?)

I don't have a huge reference library that lists every nut and bolt in every warbird, either. I leave this to the more..... ah, people with more leisure time than I have.  :)

I just play the game. When it changes, I adapt. I really don't care what HTC adds or doesn't add...perks or doesn't perk....and I REALLY don't care if the canopy bracing is .25 degrees out of line.   :D

Wmaker, here's a wager for you and I'll give you 10,000 to 1 odds:

Go back and add up all the "whine" posts since the board opened and sort by LW and Allied.

I'll wager there's more than 2 to 1 LW over Allied whines.

Game?

I can't wait to know the cost of this bird in the CA (if it is set there)...but I doubt I will ever get enough perkies to fly it  ;).

It is a BEAUTY, who did it? Natedog? or Superfly?...

Whoever he did, WTG, is the best looking plane in the set, second to the D9 only  ;)

Meteor only saw action vs V1's, where it did OK. WWII Meteor had a top speed of just over 400Mph. 262 saw quite much action, it had a top speed of 540mph, guess that's why 262 and not Meteor  ;)

Meteor I saw action against V-1s. Meteor III saw action over Germany, but by then the Luftwaffe had been defeated, and it saw virtualy no action against German aircraft.
The Meteor III, as used during the war, had a top speed of 490mph, though I don't doubt if HTC ever models one we will have the 410mph Meteor I.

I would have preferred the He162 or Meteor over the 262 but I don't mind too much, I'm for ANY new aircraft, allied or axis...  :)

pssst! <loud whisper> Toad!?

I've never see a picture of an ME-262 production plane with Jato. But the early tail dragger prototypes were awfully smokey and I also think they tried rato to get it airborne faster until they finally struck on the idea of the tricycle landing gear.

Oh! And Armour Diecast models is coming out with a 1/48th scale metal diecast model of the ME-262 this fall!! I hope to collect more but I bought my first one through Bhodi a few weeks ago. Very happy customer and I'm quite impressed with the model itself. Here it is:

Gee, Westy... that first picture looks like an Me-262 with a big curvy pilot armor thing up behind the pilot's headrest.

What did you do, doctor the picture?     :)

Or was that a "field mod" of the type that is acceptable as opposed the totally unacceptable ones like fitting a Paddle Blade prop to or modifying the wastegate on a P-47?      :D

Gawd, I absolutely LIVE for the hypocrisy!

    :D

Here's an idea.... PLAY THE GAME!

Was that too radical? Too "over the top"?

    :D

Eidted for typos.
