Using 3ds MAx ver 4
HTC dont except 3rd party models. (but they are welcome to have them if they want)

Added smoothing groups, This afternoon, (boring as hell)
and split wings into component parts i.e airlerons, flaps,
Just a bit more tweeking and I can start on the texture.

Watch this space, as I need good honest feedback on this, tips, etc. :)

3ds max is a product you buy for lots of money. unless you download it from a w@r3z site.

and it also takes lots of practice and time to do what blank did.

why dont they except 3rd party?

Ok sutpid I'm trying to get into the games industry which is why I am makeing these models for my portfolio.

Heres two links:

This one is for the 'MAYA personel learning edition' which is free but you have watermarks on the pictures.

http://www.aliaswavefront.com/en/news/home.shtml

Or you can get 'GMAX' which is a cut down version of 3DS MAX,

http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/

Both these products are free and designed to allow people to learn the basics of the packages.

The proper retail versions cost thousands of dollars.

Sutpid pretty bad form there. Asking for illegal copies of software is not good.

Blank, very nice pics. I never got on with 3Ds although I only ever used 2.5... 4 a lot better?

Use Autocad 2000 for all my 3D work at the mo.  This was my final year Aerospace group project, fuselage and cockpit is mine, wings/engines/tail are other peoples, I just did the CAD. Insane amount of polys in that model but I got the tail ramp to move up and down and the props to rotate with 3Ds, looked good in the final presentation.  :D

ok sutpid :)

Gmax has exactly the same polygon modelling tools as 3ds MAX
so you should be able to make a model exactly the same as mine.

look at this site:
http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/default.asp

lots of useful info on low poly modelling.

Sutpid expect to take months to be able to make anything recognisable, heres my first model I made with 3ds MAX  (I had used Autodesk 3d studio, Stratastudio pro 3D at college and UNI for a number of years before I came to 3ds Max so I had an understanding of all the concepts involved.)

I have really just been learning the program and getting up to speed again after a couple years out travelling, NOT learning how to 3d model, which is what you are about to partake in.  Have fun, and be patient it takes time. read the tutorials at 3dcafe and find out what is possible. :)
