Senate Passes Gun Liability Bill

The Senate narrowly voted Wednesday to strip gun manufacturers of their exemption from liability for the damage and death that can result from firearms.

Supporters of the bill said gun makers should be held responsible for their products, as are the manufacturers of many other goods in California, from cribs to lawnmowers.

Hey MT, odds that this will be struck down as unconstitutional?

If man A kills man B by running over him with a lawnmower, who is liable, the man on the lawnmower or the manufacturer of the lawnmower?

Oh wait! Lawnmowers aren't designed to kill, guns are. So, gun manufacturers should be held liable because their products work as designed.

mmm, hmmm.

I guess it should be the car's fault for hitting a pedestrian.  Aw, wonderful, we've been sueing the wrong defendant!

In all fairness, the gun manufacturers should be liable when the gun fails and kills the user...such as a poorly bored barrel that lodges the bullet inside, exploding in the face of the gun user.  But to say that they are responsible because dipshit John decided to kill Jack, well, thats the type of irresponsibilty that I speak of when I whine about how America has changed...clearly "We're" no longer responsible for our actions, right? It MUST be the gun manufacturer.

Hell Rip! I'll go to Home Depot, convince someone to throw a hammer at my head and have my wife sue Estwing or whatever the hammer manufacturer is. :D

My gun has only been fired in a range (Heckler & Koch USP .45).   Oh, and it doesn't have a trigger lock either.
