Help with the N1K2-J "George"
« on: August 15, 2002, 03:42:13 PM »
I have read in several members posts that the N1K2-J has been modified, or as some might put it - castrated.

Can anybody shed some light as to what was changed and when did this change take effect?

One more thing...does my memory serve me correctly when I thought the N1K2-J's allied code name was "George" and not "Nick"?  I called out a bogey in the MA the other day as a "George" and not one person knew what I was refering to.  :p

Thanks in advance,
Kuben

Nick, or more correctly, Nikki, is Pyro's pet name for the N1K2.  So, we just go along with it.

The Allied codeword for the N1K2 is "George".  But if you look at the official designation, it seems to read NIK, or colloquially, Niki.

The George is an awesome ride and in no way castrated.
Its possible to get 8 to 12 kill runs in it. 900 rounds of cannon go a long way. For the most part you can out turn anything you cant out run.
You need to use good SA to survive in it because its not real fast.

Be prepared for all the whine potatos to call you every name in the book because they want to shame you out of the
seat so as not to get thier crybaby arse's flamed  :D

NIK WHINES COMMENCE!!!!

for any new people here , pyro hates calling the N1K2 a  "niki"

in AW they had the N1K1 , could be where the "niki" came from

also other nicknames in flight sims

buff = org : the B52 was called "big ugly fat fella", in AH all heavy bombers are "buffs"

goon=org:the C47 was called goony bird in WW2, shortened to "goon " in AH

drunks= in AH paratroopers are called drunks , hey i don't know why!

JABO= a acronim for german word for a fighter bomber, IE: ground attack plane or one armed as such.

dweeb= someone who shoots you down
:)

HO dweeb = someone who shoots you down from the front :D

runstang= org refered to P51's extending out from a fight but can apply to all fast planes using energy ACM

ACM= air combat manouvers, what you do with your plane when enemy is around

there is more but i'm tired of typing

Thanks for everybodys feedback, don't get me wrong though.  I don't want to fly it, I just wanted to know if HTC made any changes to it.
Personally, I don't see as many people flying them in the MA as I used to and I haven't been killed by one in a while.  Then logging on the this BB I hear people make mention to the fact that HTC changed something.
I also know how people speculate about such events.

HTC - were any changes made to the N1K2-J?

Kuben,

The N1K2's energy retention was reduced a few versions ago (versions, not patches).

BTW, George is not correct.

Isn't the Shiden & Shiden-Kai what the Japanese called it but the "George" & "George 21" the allied designation, hence two different things?

Anyway, I don't want to get to far off topic but thanks for letting me know what was updated a few versions ago.  Personally I think it's modeled pretty accurately.

Yes, George and George 21 are what the Allies called them.  That is why I put those names in quotes.

The niki bleeds E faster.  Accelerates slower.  No big deal.  Its as important to slow down when you want to, as to go fast. Keep your E steady; not to much either way. And its still a killer.

Maintaining your E will help you land those kills, to boot:)

Its another vestige of AW. The paratroops in AW used to make ridiculous drunken sounding noises as they dropped (not just Geronimo!) hence - drunks out!
