Commandos?
« on: August 15, 2002, 05:06:20 PM »
I try to have at least one new dumb idea about AH every day, here's my current one - Commandos!

The idea would be that these guys would be modelled exactly the same as P-Troopers only they would have a "C" icon and when they hit the ground they would run to the nearest building and set off an explosive charge (say equivalent to a 100 lb bomb). After the charge is set off they would disappear.

Imagine the fun of being able to dust an airfield or town OR STRATEGIC TARGET with guys from LVTs, M3s, and C47s who run to the nearest bunkers and buildings and attempt to blow them up.

What say ye?

Good idea Seagoon.  Could be a (perked ?) C-47 for special situations... with different weapon option loadouts in the hangar.  For example, type .commandoack, and the troops go after the field ack.  Or .commandoVH ... taking out the VH and its accompaning ack emplacement.  Would sure add an interesting aspect to the game.

Me too man...used to play via 1200 baud modem connection with a friend.  But, we could never play any of the modern era wars...nuclear winter would inevitably occur every single game.:D Just too damn tempting not to use.

Yeah I know, but there's no easy way to model a successful egress once the raid is completed, and having them run away towards friendly territory would seem pretty pointless.

The idea is that they got away after their bombs detonated on a timer. How about a floating "and he lived happily ever after message?" ;)

The following is not the idea:

[WORKERS: Look out! The Judean People's Front! The Judean People's Front!...
OTTO: Ve are the Judean People's Front. Crack suicide squad. Suicide squad! Attack!
[drum roll]
J.P.F.: [kill themselves] Uh! Ugh. Aggh...
OTTO: That showed 'em, huh? Oooh.
[whump] ]

Yes...we need ninja squads to do these missions.  Maybe we can roll that great ninja song from that website that Aurelius was subjecting us to at the con.  That would be sweet!
