Regardless of general views on the conflict, I always regarded with respect the history and deeds of the IDF and their special moral standing, but that feeling fades away the more they continue to show such a dismal performance:

Basically they took a non-related innocent and forced him to do their job catching a terrorist, getting him killed in the process.

That being bad enough, then they proceed to bury the other guy under the building.

The jaw-droppin thing about the whole thing is when you learn that the guy they were after was already missing both legs and an arm!

I would laugh hysterically if I wasn't if fact almost crying.

How can you force someone to catch a terrorist?

They asked a neighbour to talk to the guy inside - to pass an offer to surrender peacefully so his life could be spared.

They correctly assumed that it would much less likely provoke violence if a non-threatening neighbour talked to whoever was inside than a bunch of soldiers broke through the doors.
They obviously tried to preserve the life of the man they came after - and whoever could have been in the house (BTW - no death penalty in Israel even for terrorists).
They even provided the boy with protection.

They use similar technique often and with good results - meaning saved palestinian and israeli lives. Whoever shot the poor fellow must be held responcible, sure.

What dies it mean "using as a human shield"? Was there an israeli trooper right behind the back of the boy? Then he should have been killed if - like palestinians allege - the boy was shot in the back of the head.
More likely the mad dog inside the house was an indiscriminate murderer - israelis took a risk trying to catch him alive.

"Collateral damage" applies only to civilians - terrorists killed resisting arrest or otherwise are counted as hostile casualties.

In this case - and quite a few other risky operations - including those shown on US TV - they wanted him alive. They did not want to risk harming anyone who could have been inside with him or around - all neighbours were evacuated. It was not a military operation but an arrest.
