It died when Pyro and HT left over 4-5 years ago, IMO.

Heh, no doubt II won.  I had WBIII on my HD for about 20 min one day, the FM was so laughable..I then played CFS2 and was amazed how much better it was compared to WBIII.

Incidently, this is my only beef with WBIII, but a major one...and FM's are kind of a personal taste thing anyway (shrugs)

"Pay-for-Play revenue related to the Company's WarBirds(TM) product decreased 27% for the three months ended June 30, 2002 from the prior year's comparable period and decreased 22% for the six months ended June 30, 2002 from the prior year's comparable period, primarily due to a decrease in the Game's player base. "

I am not suprised.  The leadership of the team has continually failed to listen to their customers.  I don't think they have a clue.  The leadership just wants a quick buck, and the programmers can't seem to get elements from the prior version integrated into the new one (such as the full planeset).

I found this to be telling:

"Unless and until its online revenue stream matures, the Company recognizes that it will likely not have sufficient cash resources to fund its operations through the end of 2002. The Company might not be able to close on any financing transaction necessary to fund ongoing operations. The Company does not have any current arrangements or commitments for any future financing."

I never played WarBirds because I was already hooked on Air Warrior and Air Warrior was cheaper.  Then, I never played WarBirds because I was burned out on online flight sims from playing too much Air Warrior.  Now, I don't play WarBirds because I'm hooked on Aces High and Aces High is cheaper.

Add the French DB520, the German Ju-87 Stuka, and the Japanese Ki-84 Hayate to Aces High!

gofaster beat me to it...

I wouldn't be choosing that pay in advance option if I were even interested.
