Vox headset recommendations?
« on: August 25, 2002, 12:25:31 PM »
The one set recommended to me (Labtec LVA 7330) appears to have been discontinued, and will therefore likely be difficult to find.  It was recommended because it is a mic-only headset.  The locally available choices seem to be full headsets, which I don't want, or monaural headsets, which I can probably live with.

I also have a choice between a mic connecting to sound card jack (SB Live), or one connecting to USB.  Any advantage of USB over the sound card connection?  With the USB connection it would be shared with another device (my CH Pro Throttle I think), so I'm not sure if there is a potential problem with that.

radio shack headset part 33-1119.

i was having a problem with the mike cutting out after a while and having to alt tab out to windows to uncheck, then recheck "mic boost" to get AH voice to work. saw a post awhile ago where this particular headset was recommended. just got it, played for 3 hours today with no voice problems finally.

good part was that list was $24, but its on sale for $15.

Turbot was the one who originally posted this info, which sure helped me.  thanks

Thanks for the replies.  Ended up getting a Labtec Axis 501, monaural headset, connecting to SB Live.  It seems to work OK, and it's not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be with the earphone pushed away from the ear.
