Car Jacked the Wrong Car
« on: August 19, 2002, 03:58:40 PM »
This was a radio report here, so no links yet.
A car jacker tried to grab a minivan in Hollywood. This minivan happened to be full of Judo students from Florida on their way to put on an exhibition.

When the police arrived the perp was on the ground, groaning.

He got off too easy.

I hope those judo guys get charged with assault and battery. That carjacker was just trying to make a living.

It was a judo club from Florida International University in Miami.  The "Today Show" interviewed the team this morning on live television.  The teacher said that one of the female students made the initial contact with the perp from behind while the teacher, who was driving, grabbed the perp and pinned him by the steering wheel.  Then the other students got ahold of the guy and used various holds on him.  By the time the police got there, the perp had his face in the pavement and was twisted up like a pretzel.

all the concealed carry permit holders that prevent crime somehow seem to go unnoticed by the "today show".

Have you guys seen that new security system that BMW offers in their autos in South Africa? It shoots flames from under the rockers on both sides of the car, burning extensively the would-be jacker.  I think if the US passed a law allowing those, you'd seen would-be Jackers finding new careers in crime ;)

In the US, yes, I've been told you cannot modify your car with it, and the fact you'd probably get your bellybutton sued off by the family of the "Slightly well-done Car Jack off"

Eh, I think once a thief won in court because after he entered a house, he tripped on some wire, fell, and broke his nose or some other bodypart. :D That's called justice.

That's a system I don't want to ahve on my car. I trigger my own alarm by mistake pretty often. I would burn myself with my own security system.
