Bring the Ju-87 Stuka to Aces High?

How could anyone miss such a key component to the German blitzkrieg?

Besides, it just looks so EVIL...

If we get the stuka, I hope we get both the dive-bombing type and the Stuke-G, the one w/ the flak cannon!

That flak cannon would be fun to fire against bomber formations.

Evil in a goofy, klunky sortof way.

Agree though, would be a great addition to AH in 1.11, along with the B6N Tenzan, Me163, and Ki.84.

lol you will never catch a bomber formation in that thing. Unless you vulch umm.

you only get 12 rounds and you need to be in close. Even a mg on a tank will kill by then.

Perhaps I wouldn't so much CATCH the bombers as I would just spend 45 minutes climbing, circle back, then hang above the front lines waiting for the bombers to come to me.  : )

why ?
it was obsolete before the end of 1941..
its slow.
it will be torn to peices by any other aircraft save the c47
it has a poor bomb load
it has poor guns
it will be a gimmick aircraft in ah for perhaps 7 days
it will be moaned about in special events
its ugly
and there a many many better ground attack aircraft you can choose from..

if you spend some time and read a little history on the aircraft you ask for( not just hte stats in a multi aircraft encyclopedia) you will find the ju87 was crap compaired to more modern aircraft of WWII..:) :)

The Ju 87 was one of the great warpanes of WWII, that's why we need it.  No war spanning combat flight sim would be complete without the Ju 87.

I agree that it would be a good addition for scenarios and the CT.  The Ju 87B-1 (BoB Ju 87) and the Ju 87G-1 (tank buster with two 37mm Flak 18 or Flak 36 cannon) would be my choices.

I just read Rudel's book "Stuka Pilot" and I'm more than stunned.
I'm not sure if here are some of the ppl who did play WWIIOL and whine when Stuka shot 'em down.
In eastern front they had sometimes 3 Stuka groups over the target:
D-Models bombing AAA
G-Models waiting up till AAA was down
D-Models flying top-cover

Also Rudel mentions that some pilots specialized to the dogfighting in Stuka.
-----------
Hehe when Rudel couldn't find his base in a smog he made a emergency landing and drove 40km in his Stuka to his base before they came to a bridge the Stuka coudn't fit thru, 12km before home.

Selector... Do you recognise this sentance?

Quote
It not the plane you fly, Its how you fly the plane

Huh? :D

The Stuka should have been here a long time ago, no plane or weapon ever has had such a pshycological effect on ground troops as the Stuka.
It is almost THE "sign" for WW2. The first german fotage of WW2 (Poland) was a Stuka, and the last fotage taken was of a Stuka.

btw Stuka was very hard plane to knock down and D-model was capable to carry max.1800kg bomb load:
Center rack was rated for 1800kg and wing racks were rated for 500kg.
3x500kg doesn't sound too poor to me but what do I know...

We need it!! A lot of the "we need the stuka" threads are at the bottom of the BBS monkeypile, but hopefully they're read by HT before being flushed...  To the people talking about "survivability" and "it won't last long in MA":  Nothing lasts as long as a Barbie-doll, a jaw-breaker gum and a big bottle of "Rump" lotion..  U got those? :D

in reply to wilbus..

i agree that ju87 has a place in world history, but in view of the game we all play, it would have little or no impact at all...

wilbus writes
"no plane or weapon ever has had such a pshycological effect on ground troops as the Stuka."

true..but in AH we have no ground troops..also later versions of the 87 didn't have sirens..and were shot down before they could do much damage..

im all for bringing new planes to AH including the 87, but my post was basicaly to ask the question "why would you bring them"?and "how long would you fly them for?
i see every other day, "bring this 'cos i saw it on discovery wings" or "bring that 'cos it was in airwarrior"
just a little explanation as to why would be nice..

as to guess what plane selector flies..i fly a great number of planes depending on what the target is... and i don't furball for very long(5 mins at most)..i dont fly nik or la7 or p38.. so from the reat of list you can guess away..:)
