You got it right, Saw. You think is BS?

So I do. And this hasn't been the first overreaction by HTC in the boards...but IMHO it has been the most severe, by far. Someone went too far banning someone who was FAR from deserving it.

Now I only hope they will be honest enough to admit it and unban Hortlund so he can keep posting as usual.

I can't speak for Hortlund but these are the facts as I see them:

1) He never saw the Pics because of his first post stated this:

Quote
Is the picture removed? Or is this wednesday babe a small dot...like this one --> .

(And perhaps people who dont want to see the wednesday babe should not open threads named "the wednesday babe"? Or is that just me being stupid?)

His second part of his quote (IMHO) was mild sarcasm. Hardly a 'slap in the face.'

2) I can't speak for him but I didn't know that Yankee was an administrator making an official request. I just thought it was a concerned adult about the direction these 'Wednesday Babe' threads were going. When I read posts I hardly look at the fine print of the person posting, usually just the content of their message. I can't recall ever seeing a post by Yankee before.

3) His second and final post reinforces that he never saw the pic:

Quote
Do you mean porn like in "porn" or porn like in "oh no, that woman is only wearing underwear and that bothers me because [insert whatever reason]"?

Again mildly sarcastic, but come on, hardly worthy of being banned!

4) Then to top it all off:

Quote
Gentlemen, Clean it up.

Hortland:
When one of our staff ask you to refrain, I strongly suggest you do. Slap anyone here in the face again and you will nolonger be here.

HiTech

HiTech issues a warning of banishment if "Slap anyone here in the face again and you will nolonger be here." So HiTech issues a warning and then bans Hortlund anyway.

As most of you are aware, Hortlund and I are polar opposites on most of the issues he and I have 'debated' so I am not 'saving' a squaddie, buddy, etc.
On the face of it, it appears that some over-reactions have taken place. Could it be because maybe HiTech and Yankee could be putting in some long, hard hours in bringing us this great product of AcesHi. If that were the case, it would be understandable how one could be under stress and over-reacted in this matter.
Understandable, yes. Right, it is not. This sort of reminds me of a totalitarian, fascist dictatorship. A single person (Hortlund) has been singled out for banishment when more could be banned for much, much worse.
I do realize that this is a private, non-govt enterprise. I do feel though as it is public and based in the US it might be condusive to follow in the spirit of the Bill of Rights. Yankee and HiTech, what message are we sending our young players? That it is ok to ban someone that discents an opinion? That to debate is wrong? Mind you, I have no problems of bannishment of those that deserve of such (threats, foul language, racsism, posting PORN) as we need to protect those who are underage.
Please reinstate Hortlund, lets all chaulk this one up for experience, and let by-gones be by-gones.
Thank you for your time.
Best regards and ~S~!

Whatever the pic was is immaterial . Argue with the umpire and you'll get thrown out of the game .

Yeah, it's perfectly ok to post a pic of a pilot mooning with his naked butt against the canopy but it's not ok to comment on a pic of a girl in bikini,  (sorry DMF)

What part of "private BBS owned and run by HTC" do you fellas not understand?

This is almost as funny as JoeDirte squeaking and moaning about being muted.

ht can do what he wants that aint the point. None is saying he cant. They are saying that in comparison with what else has been posted on this board and in game it seems a bit much.

To say steve was arguing is just not true I dont care who says it.

He just didnt understand the nature of the original pic. Had he seen it he most likely would not have said anything.

This is getting funny.

We started with a topic that, like it or not, can be a very offensive issue in American society. Sure, many topics run through this BBS every day, but this one caused the powers that be to say, "desist". Now we are all the way to how America is evil. You guys are a riot!

Sorry to tell you, but I didn't read Yankee's post to say she wanted any help in this decision. It seemed pretty clear to me the message was "Drop it now". Of course the second any BBS moderator moderates, the free-speech goon squad will descend and tell you what the person said wasn't so bad, or "Look at those guys", etc. You have had examples before, many, many times before, where someone had to stick in one more word and got themselves a vacation. Some of them took it, some of them had to keep recreating personnas and get "one more say".

Like it or not, the warning was for everyone, and the situation was very tense. It was the worst possible moment for someone to drop in sarcasm, and I suspect they were just waiting for the first fool to open his/her mouth in a negative way. A free-speecher getting his/her back up over a censoring is as sure a thing as me being called a cheerleader for posting the obvious.

As to the racism discussion? You guys are way out there on that one. The discussion went back and forth, but never were racial slurs hurled at anyone. It was pretty much an adult conversation about a current event. The opinions ran the gamut, but never did anyone get out of hand, unless of course it's merely the word "racism" that got you guys thinking it was a bad discussion.

Go ahead....I appreciate the bandwidth. :)  Nobody is forcing you to stay.  If you are so warped as to cancel your account because Hortlund got the boot from the BBS over issuing a challenge to a moderator....then have at it.  No matter how you sugarcoat it and try to rationalize it, basically what he did was challenge a moderator.

The really sad part is that instead of taking his lumps and coming back in a couple of weeks, he makes new accounts and keeps pushing the issue.  This kind of action, IMO is just begging for being booted from more than just the BBS.

Don't flatter yourself Sling, you're not worth me leaving, ;)

Neither is any other player.

Point is, that it is getting a bit vague what one can or cannot say on this BBS (apart from general internet CoC).

No it isnt....but if one of the HTC staff tells you that you stepped over the line you damn well better not push the limits.  If it were me, I would expect the same treatment that Hortlund got.
