« on: August 26, 2002, 11:55:53 PM »
ok guys im covering bombers that are needed/not in AH at the moment so if you guys get fed up with my posts just say so :p

1st would be a good russian medium bomber i was thinking about the Il-4 has good pay load (2700kg [5952lb] ) armaments a lil on the weak side but has a decent speed of 261mph.

2nd Pe-2 or Pe-2FT great speed (335mph) average firepower and a good pay load (1600kg [3527lb] )basically a russian Mossey.

3rd and for a lil plane the Su-2 we really dont need it as we have the Il-2 but just a though.

would like to hear feed back guys as im going to do another as this one is done.:D

TU-2 is the way to go, be a great adation, very MA frendly and would make for some nice CT and special event adations.

 342 mph(aprox)

5,000 to 6,600 pounds of bombs.

Two 23mm cannon fixed friing forward(later models)

 Three 12.7mm MG's for defense.

other than the Tu-2, DB-3, Il-4, Il-10, Pe-2, Pe-8 & Yak-4 what soviet bombers were used in significant amounts? of that group, i expect the Il-10 would be most popular, especially w/ 20mm rear gun

Pe-2 would be IMHO the most appropriate Russian bomber....... a true glass nosed dive bomber the pilot would actually be able to see his target as he released his bombs.........

the Tu-2 would be the MA darling but still not have a niche interms of speed, manouverability or pay load to earn a popular role.........

the IL-4 is the only medium/heavy Russian Bomber worthy of a name and its production figures were poor and equal or lesser than the Bostons and Maruaders..........

the IL - 10 may end up perked..........(it would be useless in scenario's unless Berlin and manchuria (45) were run.) It was said to be more manouverable than and as fast as an La-5FN and still retained the robustness of the IL-2......

What it's a medieum bomber with almost the same bombload as a B 17, great speed and was suposed to handell well, pluss it has two forward firing 23 mm canons, these were btw AWSOME guns, come on now, look a little closer m8t:)

i forgot the Po-2 biplane night bomber - 5 cylinder radial, carried a couple hundred pounds, could go over 100MPH, maybe...very robust plane, though..,
