Plz simulate variable engine RPM and engine over RPM sounds.
« on: August 28, 2002, 08:51:17 AM »
hi...this is maybe an old idea.

how about simulating this when going high-speed?
like this...(I simulated it by mixing two sounds)

http://www.uranus.dti.ne.jp/~mitty/battoutai/sounds/highrpm/test3.wav

You might hesitate to dive if this feature is added. :)

thanks.

yea..i agree,  I was just thinking the same thing.
There is no hi rpm dive sound or engine revving with
relationship to airspeed.

Also noticed the cfs and cfs2 seem to use multi stage samples
for thier engines.

i.e.   idle and hi rpm are 2 seperate sound samples.  Not sure
if that is applicable, but is difficult to get a killer idle sound
AND a great full throttle sound with one sample.  Have to split the difference.

couldn't you add engine scream to the wind sound?

wow mitsu.  Impressive.  That would really add to the immersion on one of my -47 diving at 600 mph.  I hope something can be figured out!

Bendover,

Neg, wind sound doesn't bend up pitch.

Yep, another little detail that would add to the sim side of AH.  WBs had this for as long as I was there.

I also miss having my plane stay in virtual world after I bail out.  Was a good thing to know that your plane didnt magicaly disappear as soon as you bailed out.  Also. when your pilot is killed, the system should put you into third person outside the plane (death sequence) and give you time to reflect while your dead pilot plane transgresses the boundry between atmosphere and Terra Firma.

Lots of other stuff that AH still hasnt captured that it really needs to going on year number three.

I was told that the rpm did not raise in a dive. It has to do with the Props. Also told that Ace's High is the only sim that has modeled this correctly.

I like your sound but that sounds more like wind to me the screaming that is. I think it would make a great wind sound. IMHO.

Some of the screaming you hear when a plane pass by fast is the air whistling by open areas like gun holes and such. again IMHO.

Would like to have such sound for the F4U it was called by the japanese pilots the whistling death.

seems odd that you would feather the prop in a dive, but I guess the constant rpm props must have done it.  I just think it sounds cool.  WHere did the overrev problem come from then?  Or did this just stop happening once they got those funky props.

just fimally listened to this mitsu (dl'd it 2 weeks ago but forgot to play LOL)

this is an AWSOME idea IMHO.
it would also help newbies know when they are close to compression.

BTW anyone remember the bugs bunny cartoon where the gremlins in planes would do bad stuff.... the plane dove for like 5 min and the whole time the whine of the engine got louder and louder then ran outta gas 5 feet off the ground?
i loved that 1 :D
I don't know what to put here yet.
