I can tell if I am fighting a great stick vs. newbie but usually not enough to figure out exactly who is who anymore.  lack of stick time has made me rusty in this aspect.
The other day I was flying a g10.  Took off with DT and 100% fuel. Wanted some alt before I went truely hunting.  About 22k I dropped the tank and started burnin the main down.  woah 109 and almost co-alt.  Let's turn to it and see what happens.  After the initial merge I think this guy is good.   As we roll and duck and dodge each other I am starting to sweat.  My speed is getting lower as the fuel in the tank sloshes around.  This guy is slowly gainin angles on me.  Then it happened.. nose flicks just a bit.. stall .. ARGHHHH.  The fight lasted another couple of passes with SYSTEM:You have been killd  SYSTEM: Kill #1 by Hblair.
My hand hurt and was shaking.  I had sweat dripping from my forehead.  Was just a plain awesome fight.
Point was I could tell I wasn't flying against just any 109 I was fighting a damn good 109 stick for sure.  I guessed it was hblair by the middle of it but that was just gut feeling.(actually the way I have been flying lately I figured it could be a newbie and I just suck that bad anymore and was quite happy to be killed by hblair.  I figured I made it him work a bit for it   ).

Those that fly against me usually can tell who I am. Who was that dweeb that just turned perfectly infront of my sights!

Dweeb? Hell no rocket, that was a damn good fight. I was just fortunate you stalled, or it may have been a very different ending.

Thanks for the mentions fellas. Truth is, I'm not as sharp as I once was in H2H, But I'm working on it.   It can be a bit of a handicap only flying one plane all the time, but when you do, it seems you build a reputation if you're a good pilot in it, Look what drex has done for the P47-d25. I'm just glad they're rook right now.

Yah know, I've had some absoultely superb and memorable fights with just about alla you guys that have posted here.. damn I love this sim, and the guys that fly it like they love flyin are what make this the most fun of all sims I've ever flown.

Swager.. I remember that encounter, and I also remember buggin out when it was certain you wern't gonna let me get inside.. A pony can turn with most anything till the 'e' is gone.. trick is in knowin when yer hittin the wall on the e slope. I remember thinkin "damn.. almost; no cigar. This guy's no fool.. he's gonna drag me outta e and then thouroughly pound 20 mike-mike up my bellybutton till I squeal.. time ta get outta dodge..." Nice flyin.. thought I had yah bagged too.

Spent a coupla hours last night in the dueling arena.. flyin that damn B.. and had a great time workin the scissors with AKnimitz and a few other guys. Hazed, thanks again hazed fer showing me that place, a nice place to go and work on techniques and try new ideas.

Probably the most remarkable fight I ever had was with DMF.. I had the advantage and the e states pegged, and he flew my bellybutton right into the ground. I think I was #8 in his kill streak that night... another sierra hotel stick with a crisp aggressive style was Nath.. that kid was some hot stuff to try and handle.

Had another wild encounter with Drill (I think it was Drill) when flyin a B26.. I was gettin swarmed.. had nailed two or three guys by FLYIN that big old buff like a fighter..  runnin from the nose to the tail; shootin at everything that got close when along come this F4, he got around front set up for a crossing frontal approach and as he came in range just blew my bellybutton outta the sky in little bits with a HVAR. LOL! (A5; beta terrain Drill??)

TOWD also put up some great fights in the days gone by.. what can you say about a guy that'll roar right past 3 easy kills just to get on the only pony in the fight? Yah gotta love it.. I do the same thing when I see a 109...

I'd been outta the program about three weeks and logged on.. got to talkin with Rocket on chan 1.. and he saddled up a pony and overflew 3 or 4 enemy fields just to come tango with me..  we did some wild fancy dancing before it was over and I felt like sucha heel fer gettin lucky on a dweebish shot. <S!> Rocket!

Some guys have remarable evasives, others a tenacious way of doggedly prosecuting the fight, still others that play the 'chess game' of hight, alt, postion and angles so well it's scary, staying high in the 'e' band.. had a great fight with Ammo like that the other night; him in a jug workin that magic extend and reverse...

Seems like when I go looking for a good fight; by god I sure as hell don't seem to have a bit of trouble finding one. Salute ALL of yah, damn good show!

And thanks!

I'm a menace to the newbies... that's about it.
