Bombing practise.
« on: September 03, 2002, 01:05:37 AM »
Ok, I sux as a fighter pilot so I decide, I'll go to the TRAINING arena and bomb some targets (You know..circles drawn on the ground) in a a-20.
1. There are NO targets to bomb.
2. The things I can bomb, airfields and such, all have ACK.
3. I want to practise bombing, I already have LOTS of experence getting shot down.
4. Comments about learning to take out ack, or avoid it are NOT what I'm looking for, Targets are.

Thanks,
Jim

First, the a20 has no bombsight, so you need to get up close in personal.

This means having to deal with ack.  Best thing to do is make a very high speed, slow turning pass on the field, then go around again.

In the training arena, you can go go an out of the way field, take off, and bomb it.  Do NOT bomb a field that is being used by others.

In the training arena, you can bomb friendly fields as well as enemy ones.  The ack on the friendly fields won't fire at you.

Also, if you want to practice level bombing, the A20 is not the bomber to do it in.  Try taking up a B17 or lancaster formation.  Then you can do all the level bombing practice you need.  By the way, for some good instructions, look at Keweassa's post about bombsite calibration.  He did some excellent work.

In offline mode go into Set up, Arena Settings, and set "ProjectObjects" to 0.  This will let you destroy objects at friendly bases.
