Searchlights in IL-2

Just as food for thought....
This from the ubisoft site... wouldnt mind this concept in AH night flying.

Search Lights

The search lights are a new feature which will be implemented in IL-2 Sturmovik : Forgotten Battles.

Search Lights will work with Anti Aircraft cannons at night. The lights will look for aircraft. When an aircraft is spotted the AA cannons will start firing more accurately.

A blind effect will also be simulated when staring straight into a light.

You can see all of the shots in the Forgotten Battles screenshots section http://www.il2sturmovik.com/forgotten_battles/fb_screenshots.php

Ahh the beauty of Il2... ;)

Ah yes the importance of graphics is ever present with this update. The Immersion factor will definatly shoot up with forgotten battles. Very realistic water, new lighting effects, more eye candy to accomindate its high fidelity fm.

Il2 is going to allow for multiple players to man multiple positions in a single Aircraft at the same time as well. :)

Il2 with its updates and consistant advances in its simulation will most assured lead to the next "next" generation of flight simulations.

 :)

Undoubtedly the Age of Aquarius will dawn shortly thereafter, immediately followed by the lion lying down with the lamb, and all of us becoming beings of pure energy and thought.

Don't you have some other sim to play or a check from UbiSoft to cash, or something?

Fidd made a really well researched post ages ago on how search lights could be brought into the game.

Unfortunately, if I remember right; HiTech said it wasn't possible at the time as the graphics engine was unable to compute multiple light sources.

OH god, here we go again!

Public service announcement: Before commenting on this thread, please take the time to read the thread entitled "Graphics" on this very same board.

There's a better than average chance anything that is about to be said in this thread has already been beaten to death in the "Graphics" thread. :D
