Upgrading CPU? Analog Joysticks....
« on: September 05, 2002, 11:57:42 AM »
....with FFB may have a problem.

I upgraded to a 2gig Northwood + a RDRAM system and had problems with dissapointing frame rates and in game screen freezes This would happen randomly at about 6x an hour.

I tried everything from swaping out individual components to reloading the OS, nothing helped.

Then I read in another thread that someones poor frame rate was fixed by dissabling FFB...I tried it and wouldn't ya know....my FPS gained 10-15% and the freezes stoped...I'm happy BUT, ever try flying with an old CH FFX w/o FFB? It's like a wet noodle or like George Burns would say..."It's like shootin' pool with a rope".

So beware CH FFX users , when you upgrade your box there's a high likelyhood of your old analog CH FFB sticks not working right...seems that the drivers and FFB protocol aren't compatable with fast machines.

2gig Northwood @2100
512 RDRAM 800...420 FSB
GeForce3 Ti200....29.42 Dets
SB Live Xgamer 5.1...latest drivers and only drivers, no extras
External Serial Modem
CH Analog gear Gameport connect
