Increased Interest in Organized events??
« on: September 06, 2002, 11:58:38 AM »
Has anyone else gotten tired of the Hamster wheel that is the Main Arena?

I mean  still love the MA for a qucik fix, or on squad nights. I have not seen a Ripsnort mission is forever, and to me, he was a driving force in setting up Knight Missions.

But now, I find the evenings I absolutely must fly are the TOD's and the Snapshots. I flew KOTH and had a blast.

Someone commented that the last Snapshot had a record attendance. Is this true?

If this is the case, is a large portion of the AH community moving toward organized events?

I think now, more than ever, the mission arena (whatever it's called) will be a huge success. DO we have any time frame on this new aspect of our beloved little hobby?

I cant wait for Mission Arena!

I think Weds Night Events are awesome!

Historical Match-Ups! with goals for each side! Its a slice of history every Weds night at 10PM!

See ya Wenesdays!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

The AH CM team will, with the NEXT Scenario, have done 4 in 12 months - Dec 2001 thru Nov 2002.

A NEW AH Record I do believe.
AW - AH Pilot 199? - 200?

MA is boring thers nothing else to say.

its just thats where most are.CT is good but wasnt or should i say isnt now what i thought it would be.

Im hoping the mission arena rewards people who cooperate rather than lone wolf it all the time.
If it just means another arena where some idiot can join and play like an idiot it may as well be another MA.
It needs a rank system where flyers that complete missions and have the best SQUAD survivability then they go up in rank.

These players could then give the 'flight' orders whilst HTC sets up the actual missions.

I would gladly take ordersfrom a FL that is high scoring .

This should be a matter of how well you do not how much you play like MA scoring system so guys that dont play much but are good can also go up the ranks.

if the mission arena isnt significantly different from MA I dont think it will work.Theres just too many idiots who always do the same old HO's and rams and suicide dive bombs etc.If HTC can find a way to punish such dumb behaviour in there i think the arena will be very appealing for those of us who want a more serious and rewarding game.
When we need a quick fix we go MA , CT for the middle ground and Mission Arena for hardcore behaviour ( formation flying etc with real squadrons)

Id ike to go to that arena and it asks me which side i want then attaches me to that country, then theres a list of squads on (or players who have a command/higher rank and run the squad) I choose one, the radio auto tunes to that guys squad and from there in you take orders from him.He takes missions from the HTC auto mission maker (tm) hehe :)

Id like to see those dweebs pile in and take off shooting to be barred. Imagine it? any fool who keeps ignoring missions just gets dumped or even better thrown into MA :D

I to am finding the MA a bit boring now, but unfortunatley us poor poms, limeys or english people (what ever you call us) cant stay up that late to play. :(

I quite often play until 3am GMT (about 9pm CT) but I keep missing the next day.

we need to organise some european events for us on this side of the pond.

just a thought and looking forward to the mission theatre :)

Well.... we have the Sunday TOD, if you are interested in that.  It is a squad-based event, but all you need to do is contact one of the participating squads and ask if you can join (being a member of a squad in the Special Events Arena does not affect any MA squad membership).  Posting a message in the TOD forum would be a good place to start enquiring.  :)

Also, we have a new event (CAP) starting on Saturdays, which will begin at 11.00 pm UK time, the first one being next Saturday 14th.  This will involve squads or individuals, whichever you prefer.  See the Special Events forum for more information.

That's two events, with the possibility of more in the future....  :D

Yeah Blank, come fly in the new CAP event.  11pm (GMT) saturdays, which gives you just enough time to get home from the pub and sober up a bit  :D.

The MA is fun.  everything else so far is slow and boring.   That is fine if you are slow and boring.   Nothing wrong with that.

The only thing that keeps me in the MA is my squadies.  I've been in the past two Snapshots and they have been some of the best experiences I've had in AH.

I also eagerly await the Mission Areana.

No doubt events have taken a turn for the better.  Certainly having a CM team as strong as we do now contributes to that. I can’t tell you all what a great group we have and how well they work together. Ideas are tossed about, some fly some don’t, but the input and efforts behind the scenes is the best I have seen in the two years on that team. TOD’s are solid, Snapshots are more popular than I have ever seen and the new CAP should add something to it all. There is even talk of a 2nd Snapshot at a Euro friendly time. :) And like many of you I am also looking forward to the mission arena. Don’t think the CM’s will be involved with that unless some want to but that will be a HTC thing.
