Nimitz, re OU vs Tide

Was a great game nim.  I was disheartened by the ending however (as any red blooded Alabama fan would be).  You asked if I thought UA would have tied the ball game or not if there was not a turnover.  I believe that the better team that day did NOT win:D.  Bama played there heart out.  I am proud of them, even if it was a loss.

Another thing was determined this weekend fatty, and that is who the best team in florida is. :)

That bama/oklahoma game was a good one. I've heard that stoops was proud of his team for winning when they had too. But really except for two runs in the second half the oklahoma offense was shut down almost completely. All bama needed was a few more yards to get in field goal range and they'd have gone into overtime. Now that would have been cool.
Anyways, bama unranked goes to norman and almost beats #2 team in country. Either bama is a lot better than people thought or oklahoma's one dimensional offense got exposed. Do you guys think oklahoma will fall in the rankings because of this?

I think two things are true. Alabama's defense is much stronger that it has been given credit, and OU needs to grow a lot. hblair, I dont think Bama would have won on a field goal. Its kicker lined one low and luckily made it, had one blocked, missed a 20 yard, hit a solid 45 ... but who knows.

I dont think OU will drop. OU's offense was fine in the first 1/2 I thought (for the most part). You cant run the ball against a team that stacks up in the box like Bama did. Hybl threw the ball relatively well, and they made some big plays.

But, I dont believe OU deserved to win that game. They were very fortunate, and well ... they were very fortunate. I honestly cannot imagine that they will finish the season ranked that high if they cannot manage to  play more solid. Boy oh boy I miss Roy Williams, what a play maker that guy was.

Sad ending to the game.  Much like in '98 when Arkansas' Clint Stoerner put the ball on the ground against Tenn, tho not quite as bad as Arkansas had the game wrapped up basically.

hb, the best team in Florida isn't fully determined until after Oct 12th and Nov 30th.  Though Miami looks just as good as last year.  Florida pretty much rolled over after Grossman threw the pick for the TD though.  Too bad, they were about to get the momentum fully back and make a game out of it.

Poor SEC losing out of conference a lot this week.  Even unranked 0-2 Virginia beat South Carolina.

Fatty UAB deserved to loose that ball game. Being a former player watching them give up in the second half to Troy State (a very good football team) was not good. When you give up 400+ yards defensively you should not get out of the game with a win even at 27-26.

BTW Bama played their bellybutton off against OU. Not sure why Tyler Watts dropped the ball the way he did there in the last couple of minutes but he did and OU finished the game in the W column.
