Hopefully it doesn't decide your house is a fun hangout.  I suppose up there you have all your trash bearproofed anyway, eh?

Wlfgng,

I hope this doesnt cause you any distress, but, according to statistics that I have seen you are more likely to be attacked by a black bear than a grizzly.  I guess that is because they are more numerous.

Enjoy your fishing spot! :D

Regards, Shuckins

About 15 years ago a black bear pulled a local boy scout out of his tent and killed him. Was the most horrific bear attack ever in this area. There were 2 boys in the tent.

black bears are a way of life here.

MT.. I'd be willing to bet there was food in the tent of the kid smelled of food.  How horrible though.

I have seen at least 10 in the 3 years I've lived here.  In fact, I have a picture of a cub we rescued a year ago.. but can't find it.
While it's true that black bears are more aggressive than most, they don't really want anything to do with humans.

Of cousre, they do like our trash so we have strict laws governing trash bins, etc.

I've seen this guy around quite a bit since he's busy fattening up for winter.
We live on the river and see a lot of wildlife from bears, deer, racoons, etc to eagles and owls.

It's part of living here.

btw, my fishing spot is in my back yard so I don't have far to go to get home.
I did feel a little nervous the other night carrying a fish home after dark though...
