Animal killers. Leave the dove, chukars, ducks and frogs alone.

Dove season in SW Arizona was the best I've seen in 15 years.  My dad and I both limited out (10 total, no more than 6 White Wings) in less than 30 minutes.  Take the breasts, filet them from the breastbone, stuff them with sausage and cook until golden brown.  Yum Yum.

my first shotgun was a single shot .410.   I swear that thing had some range on it.  As I got older, I got to graduate onto the next family gun, a pump action 20 gauge.  Never was as good with it as I was with the .410.  We attributed it to only having the one shot and needing to make it count vs 3 shots.

Personally, I hated eating dove, because my stepmom only ever made birds and rice which was bland as hell.  Wasn't worth shootin' or cleanin' them for that.   Grandad on the other hand made some killer quail in gravy.   More fun hunting quail too.  You don't just sit there and wait for 'em to fly over.  ;)

Now, I'd just rather go shoot some clay pigeons instead, and roast up a cornish game hen (did I mention I hate cleaning birds?).  Once it gets cooler, I think I'll see if Dad wants to go do that.  :)

Dove = Pigeon
Out in the country, the populations aren't as dense, so you won't get the nasty disease issues,a nd you can eat them.
They're still skyrats.
