it won't display the geforce mx video card in card selection.

it says primary display adapter or something like that and thats fine
If they are having problems, .. its not likely this has anything to with it

i used to use a gf2 mx 32mb, it displayed the generic
I now use a gf4 mx and it still displays generic
but the game always has worked fine

im usinbg a geforce2 graphics card and i havent had a single problem since i updated my driver (used to get resets and all sorts of crud)

download the updated driver from wherever you get it from it should work

if not then

get rid of all graphics card drivers FOR ANY graphics card that is or was on the computer then install ONLY the geforce2 driver. (cant read the wrong driver if theres only one)

if that doesnt work then i cant help you

nVidia Problems Continued

Hyena,

Go to The Guru of 3D WebPage and read about the Detonator Destroyer program.  It should help you out.  The sight has a ton of info about nVidia Drivers.  They seem to NOT uninstall properly, when you update your drivers.  There are step-by-step instructions to help you get it resolved.

I had a GF2 MX that had tons of problems too... Mostly with Win2K.  You must also ensure that you have the proper Monitor driver (Just as important as your VidCard Driver).

Check the sight I referred to and your monitor drivers... I'll check back in here later...

Cyas Up!

Try Reformatting And Using Win 98 SE  I Believe My Tech When He Says OS's After That One Dont Handle Games As Well.
Also Take Into Consideration It May Be Time For A Format, I Upgrade My Hardware Constantly And Every 2 Parts I Replace Is Followed By  A Format For A Fresh Start.  Never Have Conflicts Or Serious Problems Just Need A Tweak Here And There.
Good Luck I Hope It Works Out .

I found this in my notes .. windows 98 doesn't like 512 mb of ram and you have to make some minor changes. At lest this thats my understanding.

"In your windows dir.find system.ini open it. scroll down.

paste this in under vcache, it makes windoze 98 reconise more than 389 or whatever ram.

[vcache]
maxfilecache=65536
chunksize=512"

The maxfilecache might have to be adjusted somewhat for 2 gigs of ram... I'll have to check

He shold consider a dual boot setup

Hyena it won't let u select anything but Primary display driver under windows XP, I know that for a fact...

Different older drivers may well be different i cannot confirm.

But as I said above my card(s)  (Gf2mx and gf4mx) only reports primary display device, in many games, with NO ill effects.
