If you updated on Sunday, you should need only about 450k of download to get the rest of the service pack.

Or you can buy it on CD.  From http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/faq.asp:

"Order the Windows XP SP1 CD from the CD order page. You will be charged a fee of $9.95 (USD) or $14.95 (CDN) including shipping and handling charges. "

They provide a link to the CD order page too.

Ripsnort to my knowledge SP1 didn't fix any major problem, instead it was MS's move to hose several illegal XP owners boxes. Install SP - boom.. activation needed :)

So SP1 is by no means a needed upgrade for your system, you can continue living without it just fine.

Actually SP1 did in fact resolve lots of problems with XP.  In specific a security hole where a hacker could create a webpage and by simply visiting that URL wipe out the entired Windows directory.  I saw them do it on the Screen Savers show they just clicked on the URL and boom buh bye windows.

Also I have posted in previous threads if you do in fact have an illegal copy of Windows XP it is quite easy to create a new CD key that will not require activation, took me 2 mins to create a key and to upgrade to SP1 with absolutely NO problems.

No, that wasn't the reason for SP1.  One of the big things SP1 does is provide ways to enable/disable or remove MS middleware as decreed by the Justice Dept. settlement.  I estimate the majority of this service pack has to do with the justice settlement.  They did tack on a little tightening of the illegal keys out there though.

SP1 worked great for me, and I've installed it on I think 4 machines now at home and work.  It works fine, and I have not seen it cause any problems at all.
