Hey did yo 13th TAS guys have a mission going at 44 yesterday?
Me, Kirin and glasses, seeing two huge bars upping from enemy fields decided to investigate a little in our trusty D9's.
All went well at first; we found 4 P-51's in formation. naturally, we engaged.
What then hapened was that there were more and more P-51's coming high, and we found ourselves outnumbered and after a bit of fighting, outalted. We egressed, came back, egressed came back three or four times, but at least one of these pesky 51's always had alt while one of his buddies went for a HO, forcing us to break off pursuit of the higher con and avoid the HO shot. And then there were a couple of Spits and F4U's.
After a lot of flying and maneuvering, we were down to 60% aft, and pretty far from a friendly field that wasn't übercapped by lots of enemy cons.
So we bugged, with 3 P-51's on our 6. once over firendly ack
. We climbed a bit to see if it'd be possible for a quickie shot. It wasn't, so we landed, reupped from another field., went back only to see the 51's shot down by friendlies just as we arrived.
Was very amusing mission; virtually all missions yesterday were very good, despite me not scoring more than 3 kills all evening
